Actually, the only German food in town, but for foodie Town like Asheville, just down the road, you will not find a better selection of authentic German cuisine than her in Black Mountain. The store front is unassuming, but inside you will find a warm and inviting atmosphere, best selection of German beers for miles around, and menu selections to... More

Have eaten here many times as well as taking company, and several parties of 10 or more and in each case the food was great, service was A1 and everyone enjoyed their choice.

Two of us ordered the Rueben, one ordered the "Rachel" (a turkey based Rueben), and two ordered the Schnitzel. We were used to an overflowing sandwich with Corned Beef. This sandwich was served with sparing amounts of both meat (only two rather thin slices) and sauerkraut. The Rye bread toast was burnt. The "Rachel" was in the same shape as... More

This was a return visit and have always enjoyed our time. The food is always so good. I do miss Bienenstich dessert from Germany so I alway hope there is an offer but I understand there is little desire from the patrons. However there are several other options in the way of desserts. Boy are they good!

Have been here a number of times in the past few years. Food not as good as usual. Schnitzel was very tough (overcooked?) Will try someplace else next time. Music (horn, accordian) way too loud, even when seated in the back. Ruined the romantic atmosphere.

Likes the wide choice of German selections on the menu. Potato pancakes were super good but the rest of my meal was mediocre. Schnitzel tasted like it was fried in old oil.

I've eaten there twice and both times disappointed in the food. Not authentic GERMAN by any means...The chef is more German than chef. Nice atmosphere, really nice staff, but food just doesn't make it.

My husband is from Germany… and cooked in a German restaurant when he came to this country. We BOTH found the food to be poorly cooked, not breaded at all ( schnitzel) … and re-cooked 'home fries'…and a poor cole slaw. The prices were very high for lunch -- hardly anyone there--and when we came in owner/manager/ very unfriendly ---... More

The food here is always consistent. Great sausages and schnitzels. Spaten on draft! What more could you want!
