We had a nice experience at Malabar prior to a show. The space is open with huge windows facing Tryon Street and the Hearst Tower plaza. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was impressed by the team service concept we experienced; as at least...More

As a Spaniard, I didn’t feel the Spanish touch you can feel at other Spanish restaurants in the U.S. that truly make you feel like at home. Nothing like Cúrate in Asheville, but still good food.

I am just about ready to change my dinning preferences to "valet parking restaurants only!" after the horrible experience trying to find parking for Malabar. Parking downtown Charlotte is a bad experience, regardless of the restaurant. The food was good here, but we were surprised...More

Had dinner here before a show at the Blumenthal. My wife and I ordered four tapas, which were plenty with the addition of dessert. Service was fine. The place became quite lively and fun. Would return.

I have been to Malabar on a few different occasions and the three star rating is an average of the 4 and 2 star visits that I've had. The food is generally fine and the menu akin to traditional tapas. The meat dishes have generally...More

I also walked but I don't recall seeing a valet setup there. There is street parking a few blocks away on Mint St, Poplar St, Church St, and Trade St. (west of Church). Meters are active until 6pm.

No dress code - most of the clientele have tended to dress in business attire weekdays and anything from upscale to sharp casual on weekends. There are always exceptions and that's not a problem.
