Stumbled on this restaurant while looking for anything open on a snow day that wasn't McDonalds. French cuisine, excellent food, wine selection & service! Very much exceeded our expectation! Tried duck over greens with light vinegar eye-very flavorful & rich. Portion looked small but ended up being just right. Also tried the bacon mac & cheese-came out beautifully broiled &... More

Visited Vin Rouge during the Christmas break with my family. We experienced very good service but were disappointed with the environment and some of the food. We were in the room to the right of the front door, a bit sheltered from the entrance which was nice. However, it was very dark. I think that they wanted to showcase the... More

If they can pull this off on New Year's Eve, imagine the rest of the year? Our server -- Ray, or was it Roy, handled the chaos and business of New Year's Eve with aplomb. And his wife is pregnant with twins! Outstanding service. Great wine. Terrific french fries with an OK strip steak. A bit beside the point. To... More

Not sure how this place is getting so many excellent reviews. First let me say we had GREAT service. Our waiter was attentive and knew the menu well. He was able to help our gluten intolerant diners and did so readily. He also accommodated our wine requests, my husband is particular about the glasses and decanting when necessary. All of... More

I booked a table for eight for a business dinner. We arrived and were given a table by the front door on a cold night which also was in the midst of all the foot traffic entering and exiting the restaurant and where waiters were picking up dishes from the kitchen ant taking them to tables. I requested to be... More

If you want to feel like you're in a Parisian café or restaurant, visit here. Steak and frites is one of my favorites. Before 6:30pm there's a prix fix 3 course inner choice. You'll love the food here even if you order mac nd cheese.

We had a terrific meal here. I love the genuine Parisian bistro atmosphere. I had the beer salad and the Salmon Dijon with lentils which was just delicious. Good, friendly service in an attractive restaurant. This is a great asset for Durham. We will return soon.

Having been voted best of Durham the last couple of years as well as having a high rating on Trip Advisor, we had high expectations for a recent dinner there. While the restaurant is charming with a French bistro feeling, the food was lackluster and bland. The escargot lacked garlic. The sweetbreads were tasetless. The swordfish special ($30.00) lacked any... More

We went to Vin Rouge for my birthday, because I love French food, and I love French food for celebrations. Our meal started with a wonderful Riesling, not too sweet, very crisp. Our starter was soup. Mark had the Potato and Gruyere Soup, and I went with French Onion. The soups come in what look like smaller versions of tureens.... More

quiet, quaint and wonderful food. Took advantage of the fixed price menu. The appetizers were great, most entrees were above average and the dessert was tasty. One of the highlights was the outstanding cup of coffee with dessert. It was the icing on the cake. Looking forward to visiting again. Indoor and outdoor seating
