great appetizer and entrees; horrible overpriced dessert

We had a very pleasant and safe dinner at Carrabba's. I would give it 5 stars except for the horrible dessert. The calamari appetizer was tender and perfectly cooked. Both entrees were delicious. The Chocolate Dream dessert was described as a rich brownie with chocolate mousse, whipped cream and chocolate sauce. What we got was a small wedge (for $8.79) of dry cake, no mousse, no whipped cream and a small drizzle of chocolate sauce...a total disappointment and definitely not worth the price. I'd go back for appetizers and entrees, but skip the dessert. It is way overpriced and not even mediocre, but downright bad.

No More Delivery

I've about given up on getting food delivered from Carrabba's, though I will still eat in the restaurant, as health concerns and the virus allow. Their minestrone soup is excellent. But I continue to be disappointed in delivery service. The last time I ordered, I asked for the shrimp, but I did not get it, though I was charged for it. The calamari was more breaded than calamari, so I would advise against it. The meatballs with ricotta were lukewarm and rather mushy when the order arrived. I also asked not to include any plastic eating utensils; instead, I got two packets. But I must say that the times when I have eaten in house, the service is superb, and the food is much better. So I will still go there when it is safe, and I look forward to doing that. But delivery--I am giving that up.

Consistent Carrabba's

Carrabbas is one of my favorite restaurants and this location did not disappoint. Excellent server, nice atmosphere, clean and food came out quickly and hot...even the bread was warm when it arrived. I always order the calamari to start as I have not found anywhere in any kind of restaurant that does it any better. Even with just lemon, it is fantastic. This visit I ordered a new dish with shrimp and scallops and enjoyed it very much. Salad was fresh and the house parm dressing is wonderful. Monday through Thursday they have special's which I was not aware of, so will come back for one of those days. A special treat that I can not afford often, but really enjoy whenever I am able to visit. I will return for sure!

Poor Delivery--Again

I always loved eating at Carraba's; their food is great. But I've once again had a miserable delivery experience. I ordered a pasta dish and a mushroom appetizer. When the food arrived, there was no pasta--only a small styrofoam container with some Alfredo sauce (see photo), and the container of stuffed mushrooms was lukewarm and mushy. I try to support restaurants through home delivery, but this is the second bad experience I've had with Carraba's. So I'll wait until it's safe to eat indoors before I consider returning there.

Paper in the food!

We have a Carraba's at home but were on a vacation when we went to this restaurant. I truly feel sorry for the manager. There were not enough servers and some were literally running to get things served. The manager was doing SO many jobs at once! He said that many of his former employees had gone back to school, and hence, the chaos. I had to immediately report the ladies room, which needed attention badly. But the worst was that my guy's food had paper in it, probably attached to the cheese that separates one piece from another. It was really an unfortunate dinner date. We did have a lovely server, Paige, who did a remarkable job, given all the challenges.

Always delicious! The chicken is juicy and tender prepared several different ways. The gluten free pasta is very good, which delivers many options for the pasta dishes. Nice wine selections! Have been coming here for years and it is always enjoyable!

Showed up, seated quickly. Waitstaff friendly. Order taken. Food prepped fast. Portions good. Great lasagna. Enjoyable overall. First time there, will be back.

Would not eat here again

I ordered the lasanga and it wasn't favourable at all a lot of pasta and not enough meat and quite small for the price. Our waitress wasn't very good either when I complained to her about my lasagna she laughed it off and said "I told you yours was better" very rude will not be returning.

Excellent food and service, plus outdoor seating

We are still being cautious about COVID exposure and only eat outside. Didn't realize that Carrabbas in Chapel Hill has outdoor seating. It is comfortable, nicely spaced out and covered. At 6 pm, our experience was very pleasant even though it is mid July. My partner loves the steaks at Carrabbas and his rib eye did not disappoint. His and my salad (Italian and Ceaser) were fresh and tasty. The chicken parmasean was good too, with thin slides not too heavily coated with topping. The sides include spinach and asparagus if you don't want carbs. The bread is Carrabbas ' classic delicious mildly chewy white bread with nicely seasoned olive oil for dipping. We will be back because the food was excellent and the server was polite, attentive and friendly without being intrusive.

trying to order curbside and the site doesn't work. I haven't had this much trouble with a site since windows 3.0. Guess I will go somewhere else.

Average and Overpriced

For what you pay the meal was just average, over spiced, salty. They added color to salad by adding carrots instead of the more expensive tomatoes. Presentation was less than stellar with items splayed on the plate. Will find a better restaurant for the money next time.

The Wine Dinner Was Outstanding

While there is a Carrabba’s that is a bit closer to us, we really like the Carrabba’s in Durham. We find it to be clean and well-run with friendly service and active management. Plus, the food is consistently good. Last night was the first time that we had the opportunity to attend one of Carrabba’s monthly wine dinners and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were one of the first ones to arrive and we were seated by (we found out later) the Managing Partner. When the senior leader of an organization is actively involved in an event (greeting and talking with customers as well as pouring wine and even serving food), the other staff follow his or her lead and excellent customer service tends to follow suit. This was certainly the case here and our server was outstanding. To say that we were impressed with the wine dinner would be an understatement. The food was excellent (and tasted made to order), the kitchen and servers were on-point, and the wine was very good as well. There was even a raffle at the end and we were lucky enough to win a (good) bottle of wine. At $40.00 each, we thought that this dinner was a bargain. We have traveled all over Italy and we have had plenty of authentic Italian and Sicilian food. We can say with certainty that, for an American chain, Carrabba’s has consistently good Italian food and the truth is that we have had food at Carrabba’s that was actually better than what we had in Italy (just like American food, just because it is in Italy, doesn’t make it good Italian food). So, we like Carrabba’s, we especially like the Durham Carrabba’s, and we found out last night that we also really like the monthly wine dinner.

Kindness and Compassion

My wife and I were visiting Durham with my son who unfortunately has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a fatal muscle wasting disease. We were there for my son’s clinical trial appointments at Duke Medical Center. He was going into surgery the next day for a muscle biopsy and wanted to have his favorite meal spaghetti and meatballs at his favorite restaurant – Carrabba’s. Our host, Sheldon, greeted us and we were immediately impressed by his kind demeanor. He was so incredibly likable and genuine that we struck up a conversation with Sheldon, and shared the reason for our visit. Then the managing partner/Owner Juan Bayona was kind enough to stop by our table bearing gifts and spoke to our son about his visit and upcoming surgery. He even offered to bring him spaghetti and meatballs to the hospital after his surgery! Juan was Incredible!!!! On our way out we dropped off our card and Sheldon gave our boy a huge candy bar and the smile on his face was ear to ear. To our surprise, Sheldon even took the time to e-mail us asking how our son was fairing after the surgery. We were so touched by the kindness and compassion shown to our family - we cannot wait for a return visit to have delicious food and in a warm and gracious atmosphere.
