One of the very best fast casual food options in Durham. Honestly, their food is exceptional, so so good. The service on the other hand, is not. I order delivery or take-out here relatively often, and only once have they actually gotten the order correct without forgetting something or getting something wrong. I never customize anything, just ordering standard items off their menu. The arepas are the star here, and they're all spectacular. The vegetarian are so good, with guasaca, slaw, beans, onion. So good. I think the mechada (shredded beef) or pork might be my favorites though. Options seem relatively healthy for a place like this, and they're doing curbside pickup now as well, during coronavirus times. Definitely not to be missed, but if you pick up I would check your order over carefully before leaving.

Just thinking about guasaca makes me want to put on a rain coat and walk 10 blocks in the rain to go get an arepa. Must try. I order the avocado chicken arepas and I recommend the mustard sauce, but you really can't go wrong!

Wonderful! We ordered from here after a hike. Grubhub listed it as close to us, do we went ahead. Food was great. We got 4 arepas of different types and each was fresh and different. The red spicy sauce was respectably hot!

Always so good. Fresh and delicious arepas. I wish we had one close to us. I’d eat there every day. The guacamole is the best stuff in the world. If you’re debating-stop and eat. You won’t regret it.

Had lunch here during a fast trip to Duke. Inexpensive, fresh tasting, and quick. I’d recommend getting two arepas if you are hungry. Loved the taste of the masa they use to make the arepas.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch at Guasaca today. My husband had a chicken bowl and I had a veggie salad. Everyone was fresh and yummy; my personal fave ingredient are the plantains. Think Chipotle, but better! Do it yourself ingredients; quality of food is just as good as a few years back when we last ate there. Yum.

I love this spot - the food is fresh and tasty, and the flavors are spot on. However, I need to drop my review of this spot a few stars because their service is terrible. I've ordered from them a handful of times now and when it arrives I'm missing pieces of the order and have wrong items more than half the time. This seems like a pretty basic thing to at least count the number of items in an order, but seems like something they consistently get wrong. The food is great, but it seems like you really need to go in-person to ensure you actually get what you paid for.

If you want a "burrito" type bowl go to Guasaca instead of the other chain restaurant. While visiting my daughter she took me to Guasaca. It was so good. The fried plantains were soft and caramelized. The arepas were soft and moist on the inside but nice and crisp around the edges and don't even get me started on the cilantro sauce. So bright and fresh. I only wish they were a franchise and come to Maryland so I can get it at home.

The little hand sandwiches (forgot the name, maybe arepas) were pretty good. We had a groupon so for two it only Cost is 14 dollars, so it was a bargain. The beef sandwich was good and my husband had two tilapia and said they were good. I had a chicken with guacamole and thought it tasted strange, but someone else might like it. Quick service, plenty of seating. You do have to pay around three dollars for chips and salsa. Most places have that for free.

Visited this place on my trip to Durham. This place is similar to Chipotle where you could get a burrito, bowl or salad, with your choice of toppings. Excellent food!

We eat here when we want something quick, delicious but a little different. My favorite is the fish with guasaca sauce. The sauce makes everything delicious. If the weather is nice we sit outside.

This spot is delicious. Recently stopped by for lunch and got an arepa with the chicken/guac mix and shared some guasaca (guac mix) and chips. The food is cheap, filling, and unique - and really have some amazing flavors to offer. The arepas are a Venezuelan bread made with corn, so are a good bit different than your typical meal. Will definitely stop back soon!

When I want a nutritious and filling meal fast, Guasaca is my go-to place! From arepas to rice bowls or salads, to the variety of proteins offered, there's something for anyone here. My favorite order is a rice bowl with black beans, shredded chicken, pico, cole slaw, plantains, cheese, and the cilantro sauce on the side - YUM! Guasaca is great for a quick lunch, or for small groups - very difficult with two kids in tow, but doable and delicious food. (My toddler loves the arepas, plantains, rice, and beans!) This is a place we visit monthly, if not every few weeks :) * I will note that parking here stinks, but there is a parking garage underneath the building that usually has spots. Get here early to get a spot out front!

We were traveling with a small child so ordered our food to go so did not get to experience the restaurant. But the food itself, was great. My wife and I split a rice bowl, plus I sampled some of the left over arepas and everything tasted great. The side of plantains was tasty as well.

Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Explained to me, since it was my first visit, everything on the menu. The arepa I had was the Avocado Chicken arepa with plantains and cheese. It was served quickly and was delicious. Return trip will be necessary.
