The Quarterdeck in Frisco, NC is the best seafood on OBX. We’ve tried several restaurants on OBX over the years, searching for good seafood, and never got a decent meal. We finally found a restaurant that actually knows how to cook seafood. The crab legs...and bluefish were both cooked to perfection. Honestly, having lived in New England for 35+ years, we both know good seafood. We’ve had a years long quest to find competent OBX seafood. Glad we found a place , and we’ll be back next we’re in OBX.More

We ordered some fried chicken and sides for our family for take out. While they are very under staffed (as is every restaurant), the two people up front were so friendly and making the best of a busy night. They offer take out and eat...in by reservation only. Chicken was delicious! Highly recommend.More

We were heading to Manteo from Ocracoke and everything was starting to close. This place normally requires reservations but we were lucky enough to get a seat at the end of the night. Leah was very sweet, efficient, and professional. I’m a professional in the...hospitality industry in Indiana and had absolutely no idea it was only her 4th night there. Very efficient and welcoming. The food was delicious even at the end of the night (not always our experience). There was a little something for everyone, including my 4 year old. We had mussels, fried chicken, the bbq platter, and fried clam strips. The drinks were strong but worth the money. The environment was spaced out and clean. For being a place that wasn’t initially on our radar we left very full and happy.More

Our family of 11 visited this restaurant and were pleased with the experience. The food was good and the service was good as well. With this many people we had everything the menu had to offer from wings and steak to the fish of the...day (flounder) and everything was excellent. The hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had.More

This restaurant got good reviews, so we thought we'd stop for dinner. They were out of all crab meat, which was disappointing - no soup, crab cakes, etc. I then ordered blackened fish and they were out of blackened seasoning. Needless to say, the portion...was really small. Good food, but not worth another trip, for sure!More

Quarterdeck Rest has local crabcakes that are full of lump crab meat and just enough binder to hold it together. I got mine as a meal with french fries, cole slaw and hushpuppies. I am a big crabcake fan and make my own..but they are...better than mine! Also check out their broiled fresh flounder and key lime pie. If you order carry out, let them know if you need utensils, napkins, condiments. We ate ours overlooking the sound at Sandy Bay in Frisco NC.More

We had heard rave reviews about the Quarterdeck Restaurant so thought we’d give it a try. Let me say the ambiance was nice and our waiter was excellent. The food on the other hand...blah. My husband had the ribeye steak sandwich which he said was...excellent. I had the fried calamari and fries and all I can say is it left much to be desired. The calamari tasted as if it had come frozen and then thawed, the marinara sauce tasted as if it came out of a jar and was barely even warm. I asked for cocktail sauce thinking that would help but it was ketchup with horseradish waved over it for flavor. It’s disappointing to be in a beach town and get subpar seafood.More

Stopped in for dinner the last night of vacation and the only problem was that I ate too much. I had the Chicken Parmesan with hush puppies instead of bread. The angel hair pasta was nicely cooked, the sauce was flavorful, and the chicken was...perfect! The hush puppies were the best I had eaten all week in OBX. Just when I though it couldn't get any better, I tried the pie. Simply put: WOW! The key lime pie was topped with meringue (of which I am not usually a fan) but the unique twist: sugar which was gently toasted. It added a sweet, crunchy texture to the meringue and complemented the lime perfectly. As for the key lime section, it had the most amazing flavor I've ever tasted in a key lime pie! My only negative comment is that the waitress did not check to see if I needed a beverage refill until I specifically asked for one, so I spent a while with only ice in my cup. However, the owner came over and chatted a bit, which added a personal touch to the experience. There is NO DOUBT I will be back on my next visit to Hatteras, probably once for an entree and a second time just for pie since all at once was almost too much.More

On the plus side, the food is pretty good and the service excellent. I had some problems with the menu because I need food that's gluten free (not optional- I have celiac disease) and am also using an extremely low carb diet and exercise to...help keep diabetes under control. So I look for a lot of vegetables plus a little protein, and usually look for a good salad to which broiled seafood can be added. Not on the menu here, though they have a salad bar - small but with a good selection of really fresh ingredients. Dinners of broiled seafood have 2 sides, just one of which can be a SMALL salad bar trip. The only thing you can order along with a large salad bar is soup. The only real option I had for something as simple as a salad with catch of the day on it would have been to order a full dinner plus an unlimited salad bar. But if you're not an avid salad eater, none of this will affect you. The Quarterdeck has pretty good food and the catch of the day is wonderfully fresh. Very nice people too.More

Really solid food. Great burgers and wings that might be best on Hatteras Island. Very reasonably priced with very nice staff.

We enjoyed a previous visit to the Quarterdeck, but his visit found a number of disappointments. Their menu advertised salad bar was “down” and they offered a side salad as an alternative. They had run out of an appetizer and had no baked potatoes for...sides. This was at 6:45 pm on a Monday evening. Two of us had their combo of crab meat and shrimp, both broiled in butter. The shrimp was over cooked and doused in paprika. The crab was cooked better than the shrimp, but neither had any evidence of butter or juices in the ceramic serving dish. A couple had the blue fish, but did not care for it...blues are not the best eating fish if you are used to more fluffy white fish. The service was attentive and the $5 margaritas were a nice bonus. Overall, a disappointment.More

Loved the fried shrimp, very lightly breaded. They were probably done flour, buttermilk, flour right to order as the covering was very light and the shrimp had a lot of curl. Very light and great

My husband and I enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch at Quarterdeck. Our server, Lexus, was courteous and prompt. The fried oysters and crab cakes were delish! Hush puppies were hot and perfectly fried. But the highlight was the homemade coconut cream pie! Meringue was so...fluffy. Lots of coconut. Crust was amazing. The owner makes the pies. You can buy a whole pie if desired. We had a nice conversation with her when she came to check on us. Great place for lunch or dinner. Nice view of sound.More

Read many reviews about Quarterdeck and several reviews talked about the mediocre green beans. Not sure what people are expecting - yes they are French green beans from a can but they are excellent! As well as the potato salad. All seafoods are great -...everyone enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere is very good- salad bar was down as the compressor was bad but otherwise perfect!More

This restaurant has been here many decades, and made it's reputation for good seafood prepared simply. We got take-out today due to our family's schedule. The results: The Outer-Banks style clam chowder was excellent, everything it should be. The girl taking our order over the...phone did not know the menu, or what items they were out of. She did not ask for a phone number, so when we got here, she announced they were out of mackerel (fish of the day) and then had to go ask someone what the back-up fish was. This resulted in a 20-minute delay while the sub was prepared. By then the rest of the food was cold. You should not have someone answering the phone who cannot handle orders. The grilled flounder sandwich, fried oyster sandwich and crab balls good but were skimpy-portioned. The crab bisque was awful, too much nutmeg or some other spice The shrimp cocktail was flavorless and dry. Had better from Sam's Club. .More
