We love the double cheeseburgers at Ray's and at under $5 they're a bargain, but unfortunately every time we go there, we get really slow service from a server that is not attentive. Also, the natural cut fries we ordered were swimming in grease, limp,...More

My wife and I went through Gastonia to do a little Antiquing and driving with the convertible top down. The pork is chopped, not shredded, so you get the chucks, with some bark. The sauce is homemade and fantastic. Even met Ray. He will tell...More

Ordered a combo platter (ribs & brisket) with two sides, I chose baked potato salad (a first for me) and Cole slaw. The service was fast and cordial. The food was fantastic! Generous amounts and very well cooked. I finished up my dinner with a...More

My husband and I went there for lunch one day. We knew nothing about them, just stumbled upon them. I tell you that the burgers are homemade and look just like the website. I was so impressed. Don't think it's a little frozen burger, oh...More

The food was overall really delicious-both brisket and chicken. The molasses based bbq sauce was unique and flavorful too. The onion rings were very greasy though. The speed of the service was very disappointing. I arrived just as they were opening and was the only...More

As #3 of 180 restaurants in Gastonia, and the rave reviews of the burgers, I was expecting something pretty good. I ordered a 1/2lb cheeseburger with a few toppings. It was OK. Just ok. Like 5 out of 10 ok. Nothing about it was exceptional....More

I reviewed this place place a while back but thought it needed an update: The food is awesome but the wait staff seems very disjointed and unorganized. Long waits and cold food seems to be the norm now unless you hit it at a off...More

There was an article in the Gaston Gazette last month about how Ray's was competing for the best hamburger in NC. So we had to give it a try. We both ordered the 1/2 pounder with our individual choices of condiments. And we had an...More

Eating at Ray's was a walk back in time with his pub tables, cozy booths, and vintage wall décor. The menu offered a wide variety of sandwiches and plate options. We selected a pulled pork sandwich, grilled chicken plate and beef brisket plate. All selections...More

Since we will be coming for the first time on a Friday night, which is a very busy time, do you all take reservations, at all?

We are a small Independant restaurant. We focus on good quality food for a reasonable price. We have been in business since 1960. My Father started the business when he got out of the Air Force. We are always happy to let our new customers try a sample of our food before they order it.We work very hard to try to make you feel welcome. If you come on Thursday or Friday's we have Brisket, which is smoked for 17 hours, this is a must try if you like BBQ.
