We’ve been here twice now and each visit gets better. This is such a great stop after hitting the trails for a few hours. Good food and good music. Omg, that fried okra! I ordered the food and my husband ordered the drinks. He said...the drinks are very reasonably priced. The food was good, even as cold leftovers at the hotel that night, and the atmosphere makes for a perfect Friday afternoon in the NC mountains. Bourbon, bluegrass, and fried okra. Yes, please.More

The overall ambiance and the setting are better than the food. The food was adequate, but nothing particularly special. In addition to a restaurant with a small indoor bar, this is a quaint, sprawling place with a craft store, some antiques, and local foods &...gifts for sale. Check their schedule for live music, cuz that's when the fun begins. Sometimes they have lunch live music inside, but on weekend summer nights they use the outside stage, set up tables & chairs in the grass, open the little outdoor bar area, and offer up some great live music on their outdoor stage. Locals know to bring their own chairs, cuz the place gets full. They carry local beers and seltzers, in addition to a well-stocked full bar. We stood in line, ordered our food, took a pager, and went in to pick it up when it was ready. I had the smoked chicked (good quality meat), with green beans & fries. The food was decent, but no better than many other local Carolina-style BBQ places.More

Food was adequate. The bar was fun and the bartender is terrific. We had drinks inside and ate outside. Wine and Irish whiskey reasonably priced.

Cutting to the chase, this place served the finest French fries and fried okra I’ve had in 30 years! I’d decided good French fries were a lost art, but the ones here were better than outstanding. The fried okra was fresh not the frozen stuff...and fried to perfection - icing on the cake so to speak. The pulled pork sandwich was good as well, especially because it was served on a brioche type bun. The facility is not fancy but is fun. Lots of good outdoor seating in addition to indoor tables. The staff was terrific to match the food. Don’t miss this place!More

The store has a great collection of antigues and vintage things. They have a BBQ spot inside. Pretty decent food too. Homemade items for purchase. Will stop again, parking is wherever you can park..just don't park on someone's front yard.

Stumbled upon the quaint little store and BBq with tavern while on way back from Grandfather Mountain. I’m a picky bbq person as I’m used to good southern NC BBQ. This place was wonderful! Try their warm homemade pork rinds! I don’t even eat pork...rinds. Had a wonderful meal, mer some great people and just a very cool experience!More

While staying in Blowing Rock, decided to take a drive on the Parkway down to the Linville area. Stumbled across the Hampton and decided to have lunch. To our surprise, there was a nice little bar in the back where we decided to dine. The...BBQ and sides were very good but the highlight was the bartender Morgan. We spent the entire afternoon trying a variety of exceptional local brews and cocktails. Morgan is a true mixologist who takes pride in her liquor and beer inventory and knows how to both talk about and utilize it. The best time of our High Country trip!More

On October 23, 2020, we ordered two pounds of barbecue to go (receipt shows charge for 2 pounds). When the plastic container (possibly quart size) was handed to us, it did not look like 2 pounds. They told us that it was. After leaving and...using a precise scale, it weighed 23 ounces (1 pound, 7 ounces). Since this was a significant difference, we wrote to them through 2 means not only requesting some reimbursement but also suggesting they may want to sell it by the quart rather than pounds. This shortage probably happened to others if they used the same size container. There has been no response/acknowledgment or any reimbursement.More

We have been going here for the last 3 years. When we got our food this time, the quality was below averge. The fries were hollowed, very hard, and tasteless. They should of not even have this on the menu. The meat on the sandwhiches...were burnt. We kindly told the cashier and the other girl that was helping to get the food out, she said that is what is being served, period. VERY DISAPPOINTED and embarrased to have my guest with me after we raged about the wonderful place. AT ALL, LIKE BEFORE. Want to not hurt the business, but toMore

The building is pretty neat and the spread out options for places to sit are fun. we stopped in during our Banner Elk vacation. The food was ok. My husband liked the pulled pork but didn't really care for any of the sides. I had...the homemade pimento cheese sandwich. It was good but just too much, it needed something else on it to break up the strong taste a little bit. We've passed this place many times and it always looked like people were really loving it. Due to the limited good restaurant options in this area we would probably stop in again and give them a second try.More

This place has so much going for it and endless potential but the configuration has no flow and it’s not set up for good, efficient service. The food is just ok and it’s basically impossible to get a drink. There should be a beer service...counter over by the food that has nothing but taps and some canned beers. Not everyone likes microbrews. This would be a huge improvement so that the bar doesn’t stay so backed up. We have been here several times and actually left due to not being waited on or able to reach the counter in a reasonable time to order. When you do order, it’s too expensive. Maybe have some off season specials. There’s just lots of “stuff” everywhere that doesn’t seem to be part of what is actually making them money and it’s hard to move about. This place could really turn a buck with some simple revisions. Get the big square cash register area out of the middle of the floor and reconfigure the bottleneck action at the bar. Bands are great, now try to serve the people that are flooding in to see them. The outside area is awesome in the summer but oddly enough, it’s hard to get service then as well even with more options. The lady that owns/manages it doesn’t seem to really care about customer service so much. Turn that frown upside down. ✌🏽More

Old Hampton Store Barbeque & Tavern is a family-run restaurant, general store, and tavern in an historic general store that is nearly 100 years old. Situated under Grandfather Mountain and near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville, North Carolina, Old Hampton Store is the perfect...stop for some traditional North Carolina barbeque, turkey, chicken etc...collards,slaw, okra etc... and many great veggies to choose from. They have local brew during a visit to the High Country. They have ramp-inspired food, old time artisans, live music, and local tavern specialties. They have locals that play occasionally from noon until 9 pm! It’s a day of local food and fun for all ages from bygone days. We were camping in Boone and we enjoyed it so much we came here 4 times. The way they prepare the food and the taste is top notch. They have the best seasoned french fries too. Just get the french fry basket. You will not be disappointed. They have a huge pottery studio/store next door too so do not forget to visit next door.More
