This restaurant was very close to the hotel we were staying at, so we decided to stop there for dinner. The restaurant has a very down to earth vibe about it when you step inside. And we were greeted with friendly restaurant employees, which included...our server. The entree special offered that day was the broiled stuffed flounder, which we all got for our entree, along with an appetizer and clam chowder. I have to say that the stuffed flounder was among the best seafood dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. It was succulent, rich in flavor, and just heavenly to eat right to the last bite. The appetizer was bang bang shrimp, which was delicious. We all tremendously enjoyed all the food offered at Sam & Omies, and will no doubt come back again when the opportunity permits.More

The food is well-prepared and service was good. Be prepared to wait a while if you come at peak times. It's a popular spot for breakfast/brunch

While visiting the Outer Banks my wife and I tried Sam & Omie's for breakfast after seeing a review by the Tar Heel Traveler in Raleigh NC. Boy ,were we disappointed. The wait was extensive (even at 8 am) and then we were seated at...the end of the bar next to where the waitress used it for a tray jack! Order took forever and the food was tasteless let alone my sausage was burnt. No sense complaining. Just skip this place. There are too many other places vying for your restaurant dollars.More

I had the best grilled tuna steak on a Caesar salad! You can tell it'sa locals favorite! The ambiance is great and service was good even through a very busy lunch crowd. Friendly and excellent staff!

Great service and extensive menu of top quality down home food. Seafood a specialty as expected. Not fancy, but oh so good. Try the Hatteras clam chowder-delicious clear both clam and veggie chowder with bacon flavor. 2 bowesl and basket of fries a great lunch...or dinner for two. Great value and free on-site parking lot. Always full. Booths and tables. Takeout offered.More

We ate breakfast here during our vacation and it was a good meal to start the day. The food was good and filling. We did have to wait about 45 minutes outside for a tablet and once inside the place felt cold which isn't something...I would typically complain about but it was almost uncomfortably cold. Overall a good breakfast if you don't mind waiting.More

This restaurant is by far my most favorite one in the OBX. My wife and I came here in our honeymoon in July 2021 and we came back on our one year anniversary in July 2022. This place will forever hold a place in my...heart. The food is phenomenal and the staff are even better. Get there early or else there’s a wait.More

We have been to Sam & Omie's many times in the past and never had a problem. This visit was a different story. We arrived mid-morning on a Thursday and had to wait about 1/2 hour on the porch for a table. No problem, because...we really wanted to eat there again. We were seated in a booth next to the cash register, so there was a lot of traffic there with people lined up to pay for their meal, children jumping around and almost crashing into our table. Crowded! I ordered eggs, grits and sausage patties, and gravy for my biscuit. My husband ordered eggs, country ham and grits. We had to wait quite a while for our meals to be served, but when they were, everything but the grits was cold. The country ham was so tough it was inedible. The sausage patties were so thin they were just about burnt. The server never came back to the table to ask how the meal was or to fill our water glasses. We just wanted it to be over with, so I went to the cashier and gave her my credit card. I signed the receipt and after she took it, she turned her back on me. It is customary that when someone pays by credit card they get a receipt. Not this time. When I finally got the cashier's attention and asked for a receipt, she told me I signed one. I asked for a copy for my records and she looked at me as she absolutely had no clue. She just didn't get it no matter what I said. I finally told her "never mind" and we left. A long wait is tolerable, but only if the experience and food is good. Not this time. We would think long and hard before going back there again. A real shame.More

Not necessarily a spot you want to hit with two very hungry young kids, but we needed to get something on the way off the island. There was a bit of a wait, but the food was delicious (as always)! Our waitress was really nice,...bringing little cups for the kids and checking in on us. Sam & Omie's has been a staple here for years and I never have a bad meal!More

My wife & I came here & had a short wait before a table was ready. While we were waiting there was a constant stream of people coming here to eat. Most of them were locals. The food was good & the service great. But...I didn't care for the 1930s atmosphere. Our table was small & I had very little room. The place was also very noisy. This is an OK place to eat in Nags Head.More

I have never seen any coupons for Sam&Omie’s in over 20 years of going to the Outer Banks, and I do coupon. If they had any it would likely be on Sunny Day.
