Had dinner at Iris before going to visit the temporary exhibit at the NC Museum of Art. The only downside is that there was an event that Friday night with music and so it was difficult to have a conversation. We were there with friends and had seared scallops, Moroccan stew and smoked salmon. The scallops were perfect, the smoked... More

We had lunch at Iris before viewing the Art Deco car exhibit. This is a nice place for a relaxing lunch either before or after viewing the museum exhibits. Service was very friendly and prompt, and the menu included a variety of choices from salads to sandwiches to full entrees. (And there were real cloth napkins!)

After much research I decided on this restaurant. I had it all planned out. There was live music this night (Paris jazz band) and an art after dark event where the museum would stay open later. It started off not quite as romantic as I had hoped, since the restaurant was basically in the museum with no separating wall, so... More

I can only report our afternoon coffee experience--- but despite it really specializing in a fuller menu delivery -- we were warmly invited to be seated for our coffees. I couldn't resust trying an unusual ice cream offering.. Marscopone! It was one if the best I've ever had in my life ! Honestly! I could imagine dining here to be... More

When you're done strolling the halls of the museum, take a moment to enjoy lunch at Iris. What captures your eye is the massive "nest" wall art. Secondly, the modern white crisp linens and seating. As you sit down, enjoy the quiet ambiance and your server greeting you with the days special. Lunch was absolutely delicious, and be prepared to... More

Nothing like a Friday night at the museum for great music, movies, & food. We ordered the surf and turf (which was veal meatballs with sweet and spicy shrimp all in Moroccan flavors) and salmon. Both dishes were delicious. Atmosphere is modern, eclectic, fun and you can hear the live music and excitement outside of the restaurant. Our server was... More

The Iris Cafe offers a nice variety of salads and cooked meals. The ingredients are fresh, presentation is attractive and service is efficient. I wish the NCMA also offered a cafeteria alternative, as Iris can get backed up.

This museum is a sit- down restaurant with waiter service. There are a lot of salads from which to choose. One of us had a beet and walnut salad. The rest of us had sandwiches - hamburger; chicken salad. Both come with sweet potato fries. All was good. They serve wine, other beverages, and dessert.

Count Iris as one of your options when you are looking for a good restaurant. Both lunch and dinner are enjoyable. Food is tasty, healthy and presented well. Nice wine choices. The bright white modern walls are refreshing while the long wall of intertwined branches adds organic ambience. The wait staff is well trained. You get a bonus if music... More
