Did not like this place, maybe I went with a lot of expectations, however it was just a lot of hype no value nor taste. The portions were surprisingly small, the Japanese Devilled egg gets you 1 and a half boiled egg slices. The sushi is average. The Indian cuisine they have is tasteless, you'd rather go to an Indian... More

Every aspect of our visit was tremendous. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The buffet selections were varied and delicious! Omelet, waffle, and carving stations were well manned and quick to serve. An overall great experience!

Went her for dinner with my daughters -- we shared 6 small plates. We didn't try sushi as I am not a fan but did try cuisines from many cultures -- Indian, Spanish, Chinese, Polish, Phillipino Lots of flavor with special sauces, slaws, creama, etc. The baja crab flautas and Filipino lumpia were especially good. The service was attentive, the... More

Stopped here for lunch on our way to the coast. Didn't realize that on Sunday, there was only brunch in the afternoon. Decided to stay and were glad we did. While expensive ($22, not including drinks), the choices were extensive and all were well prepared. The grits were among the best we have had.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Loved the mango habanero dip with the flautas. The duck was fantastic.

So the setting is great -- good vibes everywhere! The service is also top notch. So what is not? The food. Sadly. Went here with a gang after a day at the convention and we had some pretty high hopes. Not to say they were dashed to smithereens by any stretch by we've all traveled around the world and love... For those who are a bit adventurous, this is a real find. Many of the items on the menu may not be familiar but all of the ones we tried were delicious - but more than that, they were prepared with interesting and enjoyable blends of spices. The result was that each dish really tasty. It was also the case... More

Description
Located at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets in the heart of downtown Raleigh, bu•ku is a local restaurant that tells a global story. The name "bu•ku" itself is an international slang twist on the phrase, "Merci, beaucoup" meaning, "Thank you very much." Inspired by the pushcarts of street vendors across the globe, our chefs harvest an array of unique and distinct flavors and present them authentically, in a virtual kaleidoscope of plates. The common link: these are foods that people love. Working within different regional traditions, our menu brings together complex and flavorful dishes that have been honed over generations. Foods like Polish pierogis, Colombian arepas, and Thai barbecue prawns served in a banana leaf with green papaya salad can be found on the street corners of Warsaw, Bogota, and Bangkok. We strive to convey the immediate thrill a traveler feels eating foods like these as they first cross over the cart and exchange hands into the urban setting.
