Always a favorite stop for breakfast in Raleigh. Atmosphere is great . A big, open restaurant where you get to see a cross section of the city, from college kids and young families to old timers. Black, white and in-between. Blue collar and white collar. Great antiques, farm implements, old signs hanging from rafters. Cluttered, noisy and just right for... More

We were in the area, and wanted "something different" to go and eat. Great place to eat! When you walk on the cobblestone streets within downtown Raleigh and walk up to the door, you're instantly transported back into time. The many handmade trinkets hanging from the ceiling, accompanied by the warm welcome staff, instantly puts a smile on your face.... More

The atmosphere is quite nice as this type of restaurant goes. Whenever I go there, I am always able to get a window seat. The food is very good. The service is always excellent. The only "negative" is you get too much food:) However, if you are hungry, it's the place to go.

Big Ed's has ample portions of tasty country cookin', in a country casual setting in the historic Raleigh City Market area. The daily specials are usually a meat and two sides, cornbread and / or a buttermilk biscuit with dessert and a drink for less than $10. They offer a full breakfast menu until closing which includes some of the... More

We love Big Ed's for breakfast -- and for their cheeseburgers and fries, which are among the best in town. Both locations are outstanding!

Looked for a breakfast in Raleigh and found Big Ed's City Market Restaurant. Excellent old time breakfasts. Pancake was huge and so delicious. Very electic clientele, made for a fun visit. government employees, locals, students and out of towners enjoy this place. Excellent, attention to detail, friendly service. Restaurant has been in the area since 1923

This place attracts everybody - families, couples, legislators, professionals, - everybody and every type will be sitting at the next table - and will probably strike up a conversation if you look their way. Love the Chicken and Dumplings, the Banana Pudding, and the... More
