I went here with friends before a movie. They have a variety of options. I love fish tacos but have never had a torta so I got a fish torta. I got it because it was to have lettuce / tomato. It wasn't a good choice. There was just a little fried fish, very little lettuce and a huge bun.... More

We're transplants from S.Cal too, but 27 years ago. We're a bit disappointed in the food. Seemed really bland. Enchiladas not so tasty...chimichanga huge and ok. Cheese dip not so great. No problem, lots of places we like. Service was easy and pleasant.

My wife loves the carne asada and I love the green chili burrito. No rice, no beans in those burritos, just a huge pile of grilled meat with guacamole ... it's heaven!!!

This food is like you're visiting someone's house. Better than any food truck and many more dishes to choose from. Most days, there are 4 kinds of fresh salsa, limes, cucumbers, and jalapeño and carrots on the salsa bar. The TV's are tuned to spanish language stations and many of the patrons are not native english speakers. The lady who... More

I absolutely love everything about this place! I'm originally from Southern California and have lived in NC for 6 years now. While I have found lots of good Mexican restaurants in Raleigh that I really enjoy, NONE of them have made me feel like I've been transported back to So Cal like Los Cuates. Not to mention I haven't found... More

We've only been a few times but our most recent trip was to get some take-out tacos. The carne asada and carnitas were wonderful and the garnishes and guacamole were great. 8 tacos in about 2 minutes for a little over $20 and a hungry (borderline hangry) family was sated. It's not much to look at but it's got excellent... More

Being from San Diego, I know So Cal Mexican is the place is absolutely the best. When I found this place, and saw the menu, I hugged the owner. The Carne Asada and Machaca Burrito are just like home... NO rice in the these burrritos. We put that on the side. Go there...I say go there now, and wahs it... More

Looks like you just do take-out but once you get inside you see there are tables. My brother enjoyed having a TV to watch soccer and the variety of choices on the salsa bar. It's a little spicy for my taste but the food portions are very generous. There was an extensive menu and it seemed slightly more authentic than... More

Probably eat here 10-12 times a year and never disappointed and never worry I will be. The roasted pork is great simmered in green chilies. Best Mexican breakfast choices around. Good salsa bar complemented with both fresh and marinated veggies. Decent beer selection. Chili relleno is a favorite.
