Have a difficult time finding authentic Hattaras chowder. The Crab Shack offers it. To be honest that is all I ate, but my husband was happy with his fish and shrimp.

We are here for lunch and they close for season today. We have been here many times and always enjoy the food and great staff. Crab Shack is the place to go while at Emerald Isle.

Went there based on rave reviews from folks renting the duplex next to ours at the beach. Cost of the meal, with one domestic beer, was about $35.00. For this we got flounder that was dry and over-cooked (fried) and soft shell crabs that were as tough as leather and so bad tasting we could not even swallow the tiny... More

This past year, we spent four weeks vacationing at Atlantic Beach. The Crab Shack has always been one of our favorite restaurants. We visited this time just after Hurricane Matthew when we had been without power for 2 days at our vacation condo. We were hungry and so looking forward to a delicious hot seafood meal. My entree was a... More

This has been, honestly, one of our favorite haunts in Salter Path for years. However, our last visit (and a couple before it) have left us feeling like we need to try some new places that value customers a bit more. The food will not disappoint, but the service seems to be slightly declining. Case in point: off-season, only a... More

We went on a Monday in October and the place was nicely crowded. I imagine a lot of locals eat here. My husband had crab panned in butter, which was sweet and wonderful; as sweet as snow crab but without the hassle of cracking open the legs. I had scallops panned in butter and OMG - they were outstanding. I... More

If you like fried seafood and frozen to cooked french fries, this is your place to dine. It wasn't awful, but I won't go back. My soft shell crab was okay as I ate it, but I had heartburn later. I liked the hushpuppies and they served Mountain Dew which gave them some good points. It was busy and there... More

Went based off recommendations. Average at best. Fried fish are ok. Fried soft shell crabs were old. Place was full but don't know why.

If you like sauteed crab, then you need to visit. It has the ambiance of a "fish camp," but the food is outstanding. I get a combo of fried shrimp and sauteed crab every time I go. I've never been disappointed. Service is good and staff are friendly.
