Amazing cafe in the back of a pharmacy. It’s like going back in time to the lunch counter and wonderful country food. Service is delightful and atmosphere should not be missed....Shelby’s best secret!

A great place to have a good meal and see all the locals. This restaurant has been around since I was a kid and continues to serve good quality meals in quick fashion. Real Southern Hospitality.

I had heard this place was good and wanted to give it a try. The Hub is a small cafe in the back of a medical pharmacy. It seats about 35-40 people and it was almost full at lunch and woefully understaffed. There were 4...people working - a cook, 2 servers and a dishwasher. So, the service was slow. Their standard lunch was a meat and two vegetables with cornbread/biscuits. I got the chicken pan pie with cabbage, mac n cheese, cornbread and tea. Total cost $8.10. The chicken pan pie was very good. The cabbage, macaroni and cheese and cornbread were excellent. The tea was good and would have been better if they were not so understaffed that I could have gotten a refill. Because they were so understaffed, it took a long time to get your food, get a refill, get your check. It was frustrating being on my lunch hour. But the most frustrating part was the telephone. It rang NON-STOP and it was SO LOUD that it could have been heard out in the parking lot. The two servers just let the phone ring and it rang and rang and rang. If I could have reached it, I would have answered it and started taking orders just to get it to stop ringing. The ringing was so LOUD and NON-STOP that I almost got up and left. Instead, I asked them to PLEASE turn down the ringer if they were not going to answer it, which thank goodness, they did. Otherwise, I would have left. It was intolerable and that is NOT an overstatement.More

This is a hidden local place that it took a while for us to find out it exist. It is a local spot for breakfast and lunch located in the back of a pharmacy near the hospital. Good home cooking meals and burgers.

This is a place in the back of a drug store. This was pretty typical of Southern cities in the past. It's not pretty, it's not fancy. This is by NO mean gourmet dining. This is simple food, cooked ok and served in a reasonable...amount of time. I got the impression from the wait staff and customers that the same people have been eating here for a very very long time. We arrived mid to late morning on Labor Day Saturday. We informed upfront they had run out of some items. This was a not a problem for us. 1 egg plate, grits, bacon and toast was $2.99, the 2 egg plate was $3.49. Coffee was a $1.49 a piece. Total out the door was a hair over $10. About the same you would pay for at a fast food place for two combination platters. The food was ok. I would preferred hash browns to grits, but they had run out. We ended up here because our other breakfast place in Shelby was too busy and this was on the way. Would we go out of our way to eat here again? Probably not. We would eat here again if it was on the way.More
