Rarely does location, ambiance, service and food all come in a single experience, but the Swag creates a unique dining experience with all of those elements and more. We brought our friends to share what we had discovered earlier and their enjoyment was obvious from the moment we arrived. This is the place you want to keep a secret to... More

All the food is great! The barbecue on Wednesday on the top of the mountain was the best! We were able to choose from so many great foods and desserts. Look it up to see the amazing views!

This hotel is an absolutely incredible experience. The views alone are worth the price. The long driveway is like a carnival ride. The mid-week picnic is not to be missed.

Our stay at The Swag included 3 meals per day. The breakfast and dinner were served family style and everything was delicious and the servers meet your every need. We had our delicious lunch packed in a backpack so we could eat it while hiking the beautiful mountain trails all along the property and inside the Smokey Mountain National Park... More

Visiting Asheville and had heard about The Swag for several years. Finally decided to give it a try. The directions were accurate. For all the moonshine fans be sure to look for the 'Popcorn' Sutton marker on Hemphill Rd just past the turn off for George Sutton Rd. It is a lovely drive, especially after you turn onto Swag Rd.... We stayed at The Swag so were treated to breakfast, lunch and dinner there--we can't recommend it highly enough. I had the best steak I have had in a long time and we also had some really fresh and delicious seafood. The desserts are totally decadent too! Its located in a dry county, so bring your own wine!

Our visit to The Swag was for Sunday Brunch. We were seated at a large table in the dining room as there were 12 of us from various places who gathered to celebrate Niece Teri's birthday. The green salad was first. A smoked tomato dressing accompanied the salad along with delicious tomatoes and cucumbers from the Swag garden. Some of... More

I ate here every day for all my meals since I was actually staying at the Inn. The cooks and pastry chefs did a magnificent job with all the meals. If you can't stay, its worth the trip up the mountain to have dinner.

Description
Welcome to The Swag! This intimate hideaway is nestled among eighteen peaks over 6,000 feet and this extraordinary log and stone lodge is a treasure to be discovered by today's lovers of nature. The old split rail fence marking the boundary of Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a few yards from the Swag Lodge entrance, and well marked hiking trails abound both in the Park and throughout the two hundred fifty acre property of our award-winning Inn. Our own trails are complemented by the national park's vast network of hiking trails carefully mapped to scale and available for all guests and especially enjoyed by the wilderness novice. For over thirty years we have developed and enhanced our fourteen romantic guest rooms with wood-burning fire places, steam showers, balconies, patchwork quilts, and "Ritzy Rustic" amenities galore. Very special dining is a proud tradition at the Swag beginning with hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. each evening and leading up to our chef's four-course dinner at 7 p.m. Exceptional country breakfasts and delectable back-pack lunches add to the day's leisure nature walk or the more ambitious high country exploring. Join us for one of our gourmet picnics each Wednesday at noon on our Gooseberry Knob, or savor our Thursday evening barbeque cookout! Expansive beams, 200 year-old hand-hewn logs and native Appalachian crafts authenticate our desire to capture the romance and integrity of living graciously while authentically close to nature and all its wonder. Our seasonal inn operates from mid-April through November. Located near Waynesville, thirty miles west of Asheville, North Carolina.
