Out on the Bonavista Peninsula for a staycation and found Bonavista Bicycle Picnics Cafe and lucked into opening day! What an absolutely beautiful quaint cafe sitting on the edge of the North Atlantic with views to heal the soul! The staff were warm, sweet and...super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious! We ordered the bicycle picnic and had the veggie sandwich and the chicken pininni, salad and cookies! I have to say the veggie sandwich may be the Best sandwich I have ever tasted! It was carmelized onions, goat cheese and some kind of sweet and tangy sauce that put it over the top! We left the Cafe on the bikes with our picnics securely fastened to a basket on the back of the bikes. We meandered along the coast line with colourful wild flowers lining the country roads, beautiful seaside views, and country fences and meadows filled with cows and horses. It was a bit surreal and one of the most peaceful and beautiful adventures I have ever experienced! We made our way to the Bonavista Lighthouse and settled in for our tasty picnic! I highly recommend trying this if visiting Bonavista! You will not be disappointed!More

Great gem of a cafe that rents bikes and can provide picnic lunches. Staff are phenomenal. My daughter has a gluten free diet and not only did they have something on hand, they made something different for her the next day. Did I mention cafe?...Lovely Lattes and Americanos.More

This lovely little cafe, situated upon a local heritage site, is situated on the shoreline of Bonavista Bay. Truly a Bonavista! Great food, very personable host and owner, Miranda, and good coffee. They even offer bicycle, map and picnic basket for those who want to...take their grub to the seaside for a leisurely picnic. Where else can you find that? We will be back before the end of the season for sure. PS They also sell local merchandise. Favourite T-shirt: Don't Be Talking.More

We found this quaint and charming restaurant while visiting an art installation on the Mockbegger Plantation of historic Bonavista. The restaurant is located in a small historic store and still has the original shelving and wall boards. A group of six, we all agreed that...this was one of the finest lunches we have had anywhere in the world. The roasted chicken panini with spicy mayo and brie was absolutely delicious and the red lentil curry soup was superb. Our server was very friendly, efficient and had a great sense of humour. The next time we are in Bonavista we will definitely return and maybe we'll try the bike rental with the take-away picnic basket.More

My husband and I booked a bike rental with a picnic lunch. My husband called early that morning to let them know when we would be arriving, so our lunch would be packed and our bikes would be ready. The owner did not pick up...her messages so, needless to say we had to wait for the lunch. Having said that, the lunch was VERY good. The bike, on the other hand, was NOT! When I started on our ride I was riding up a hill and I shifted down to first gear. I thought I was in first gear, but I was not, therefore I ended up falling off the bike!!! I am a seasoned cyclist, so I was very aware of how to shift the bike!!! My husband discovered that the rear shift cable was not engaged, hence I wasn't going in to first gear, but staying in 6th gear. He managed to get the cable back on, and I was okay to ride on (with a small gash on my right ankle). My husband stated that he was told they check their bikes daily, but this is obviously NOT the case. They have a responsibility to ensure the bikes are in good working order. I should also state that the chain and gears were VERY rusted on the bike....another sign of 'lack of maintenance'.More

We stopped here for breakfast before leaving Bonavista. This spot was the perfect start to our morning. The staff are really friendly and polite. The fresh baked goods were delicious and the view was amazing. It was really nice to just sit and eat and...watch the view. The decorations are cute and homey. The restaurant has a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.More
