This place came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. The food was sooooo good. Fries were homemade and cooked just perfectly. Homemade cheeseburgers were tasty. Husband really enjoyed the chicken burger. We finished lunch and went out to the ice cream bar. Huge servings with a...wide variety of options. We enjoyed them on a picnic table overlooking the ocean. Great service and reasonable prices. Perfect place to stop while heading to lighthouse and Dungeon. I wouldn’t advise you to take your ice cream on the road to the Dungeon though as the roaming horses may try to get a lick ;)More
Ok.. I was expecting this place to be just average and maybe a greasy spoon so to speak.... boy was I WRONG!!! It was some of the best fish and chips (cod) that we had while in Newfoundland! AND I have two say I have...NO idea what they do to the ice cream sundaes but it was LITERALLY the BEST we have ever had in our travels... What do they do to make it so rich and creamy???? I would so very much recommend eating here....
It is a smaller eating area so if they are crowded you will have to wait. We got lucky and just beat the rush that came in after us. There was one waitress for ALL teh tables and some how she kept up. There was a wait time to order but you know, sometimes you have to wait and it should not be held against them. She was friendly and efficientMore
Excellent for cod.
Cod so fresh that it has the texture of a pad of butter as it slides down your throat.
Unbelievably in texture and flavor.
The view out the rear of the restaurant is breathtaking as well and worth the trip just for...an ice cream cone along with the photographic artwork hanging on the walls.More
I wanted cheap, greasy, Atlantic food. Little Dairy King delivered. I had a great fried cod sandwich and a perfect view of the coast. Legit look at that sandwich.
Dungeon Provincial Park and the lighthouse are 2 minutes away, so this is a perfect stop...if you’re exploring the area. Staff were super friendly as well! Glad we chose this spot.More
Given the location you might not thing much of this diner. But it has been here for about 40 years. They dish out great ice cream and snacks thru a walk up and order window. Inside is a small diner where you can order from...a huge menu of meal items. All are what you would expect in a NL "around the bay" diner; hot beef and hot turkey dinners, variety of sandwiches and burgers, variety of fish dishes. The fish and chips are very good with a light batter and really fresh cod. Portions are large and the service was great. Our server was very friendly. Its a bit out of the way but well worth the visit.More
We enjoyed eatin gat the Dairy King several times while in this area. We had been there a long time ago but returned and were not disapointed. There was some local jam to buy there as well that was made from the local berries that...we can't get in ontarioMore
We stopped by for a Sunday one evening. We were expecting great things due to the establishment's high ratings, but we were disappointed. When I placed our order, the attendant told me that she could make the Sundays, but they were out of whipped cream....A Sunday isn't a Sunday without whipped cream, so I said, "So, basically you only have ice cream?" The attendant told me that she could add some nuts, sauce, and a cherry to the ice cream to make a semi-Sunday. That's all they had, so that's what we took. We each got a cup of soft-served ice cream with nuts and a cherry. While eating the ice cream in our car, I made a joke about what a sorry excuse for a Sunday it was, which caused my girlfriend to start choking on one of the chopped peanuts. I nearly had to heimlich her. I thought she was going to die. Needless to say, it wasn't a good experience. $13 for two small cups of soft serve with nuts and a cherry was rip off. The serving size was too small; it needed whipped cream; and there should have been an option to have it with hard ice cream.More
