This is a musical tourist trap that is as authentic as it is lively. Music is the main course -- the menu is typical seafood/pub fare, and a little pricey. But it doesn't matter when the first fiddle notes start because people are here to...More

Based on reviews that we had read, we got to the pub early (about 5 pm). There were only a couple of seats available. It is a favourite place for the locals. We had a very enjoyable meal and the entertainment was great. It was...More

Excellent food and entertainment. We were lucky to be there for Kitchen Fest at the beginning of July.

My boyfriend and I first came to the Red Shoe last August (2016) and had such a wonderful experience that we came back again this year. Music and food aside, what makes this place special is the people and sense of community. You can literally...More

Normally I don't partake in the internet troll game that goes on these days, but that being said, let's begin. I couldn't help but notice a scathing review from a JulesJSmith with the heading "where culture goes to die". She has nothing but a lack...More

The food was good here the only problem was is they cook everything with too much pepper and I dont like pepper. Loved the fact I got to eat here. Wait staff was very friendly. Very busy restaurant but wait time was minimal

I wish I could give this over-rated, clannish melting pot of big local egos no stars. So disappointing considering I grew up with the owners on my childhood summers,up from NY. How quickly they forget with a bit of "fame". Food is mediocre at best....More

We were lucky to get in as the place was packed. We waited for only a few minutes before being seated. There were two gals playing music which was devine. We had excellent meals. The service was good and the atmosphere fabulous. A good evening...More

Had a great meal at a reasonable price. According to almost everyone we talked to, a must place to visit and have a meal.

I don't believe they take reservations. When there's music, I'd suggest you arrive an hour before the performance begins because the main room fills up quickly. The Red Shoe also has a nice covered patio area where you can... More

Description
We stumbled accross this place this past Saturday, which was the day after it had opened for the season. They are only open from June until October. It is very quaint, and it has the very best seafood chowder of anyplace we found in Nova Scotia or PEI. The waiter was super nice to our group, and honest in admitting he had only started the day before, and hadn't tried all the items on the menu yet. He went back to the chef on a couple of occasions to ask if he could change a menu item for us (which they did), and was very attentive to our lunchtime needs. This is a really good restaurant and should be added to Trip Advisor. Thanks, John Ward Smith
