My family and I had a great meal and competent friendly service. It is basic food, but we'll executed. We all thought the chowder was a bit too thick, but it tasted great. The mussles and fishcakes were a highlight, as was sitting outside.

Right on the water in Chester Basin this little spot has great atmosphere. (Could have done without its proximity to the parking lot, as the restaurant was open air. 3 tables on the deck, two with umbrellas, would have loved to have sat outside but...More
In this case, I am really glad we didn't look at reviews before we had dinner here. Our food and service was very good! The mussels were perfects, the caesar salad with scallops was good, the seafood crepes was loaded with seafood and very tasty,...More
Second time I was at the Shanty this summer and both times had the Cajun Haddock, very good. However, both times, I noticed how poor the wait staff are trained. Compared to past years, I would really invest in the people as it can really...More
For years this was a favorite stop on the way home from our cottage. It has new ownership and has gone down hill . I gave them a very mediocre review last year, but yesterday was beyond belief. The place was not full, but upon...More
Stopped in here to try their lobster roll. Got the Shanty Combo, which was a cup of their seafood chowder with a lobster roll. Served piping hot, the chowder was incredibly hearty, full of white fish, scallops (not Digby, but still tasty), clams, and even...More
The service was welcoming and fast. The meal was delicious and we loved the "de-constructed peanut butter" desert! Well worth stopping and the vista over the wharf and on to the bay was stunning!
This little place is light on the upscale but heavy on the detail when it comes to sumptuous sea food. I go for the bowl of seafood chowder and finish with blueberry grunt. Always a pleaser. Efficient friendly service but getting a little pricey these...More
We have traveled from the Annapolis Valley to Chester Basin several time each summer for many years just to enjoy the Seaside Shanty's wonderful lobster chowder. This year no lobster chowder so ordered seafood chowder instead. What a letdown! Chowder was filled with mushy fish...More
Warm, friendly service with a great view over the water. We wanted a fairly light lunch and opted for their lobster rolls - which were delicious and generously sized. The pots of tea were great too!
