We visit the Rare Bird during our family get-togethers in the Summer. It is a nice homey atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing meal, while resting your bones in the wonderful area. The menu is limited but the food is good, and staff arevery friendly

I can't say I wasn't warned, but I totally misjudged how bad the Rare Bird would be. Horrible, horrible hamburgers. And the only things on the menu are burgers (cheese or no cheese) or fish and chips. The fries are the frozen kind you get at Burger King. And that was the best part of the meal. Two of the... More

When in Guysboro we usually eat at Days Gone By ... This time we decided to try the Rare Bird -- Shouldn't have -- Menu Cheeseburger, Burger, or Fish and chips. Fish was very good; fries crap. Caesar salad an alternate to fries ... my companion said it was so-so. EXPENSIVE .. $40 for 2 fish and chips plus non-alcoholic... More

We sat on the deck drinking great beer made right there and was a smooth harbour. We ordered the fish and chips and they were cooked perfectly.

Eat here only if you have to.....three things on the menu...hamburger, cheese burger, fish and chips...thats it ! Burger was tastless....fish and chips tasted like they came from a frozen package. Nice view from patio Service okay I guess, if you like being referred to as "guys" constantly the craft beer was okay but nothing exceptional We were in Guysborough... More

We were looking forward to visiting the greatly hyped town of Guysborough to sample some of the craft beer and "fine food" at the Rare Bird Brew Pub. Mid summer, the pub was completely empty except for a waitress and cook, strangely lacking ambience. We sat outside and were told the "fine food" offerings of the day. Three choices, all... More

This place really is in the middle of nowhere, we had driven about 15 miles past it when we finally found a person to ask where we could eat she told us that was about our only choice so we turned back. It's a very big pub a bit dark and yes there was only 3 choices, but we sat... More

Was looking forward to the Rare Bird Pub and Eatery. The advertisements promised a varied and interesting menu with great beer and pub atmosphere. Well...when we arrived the place was empty except for one person at the bar. That's fine but there were two choices for lunch...a sausage on a roll or fish and chips...We had the maple beer and... We found a B&B on TA and it had great reviews and pictures, little did we realize the restaurant was only open for dinner with guests having preference as one would expect. So, ask where she might suggest a good place ? First thing our was "Rare Bird Pub. Found it no issues and couldn't have been a better choice-... More

We were out with friends for a Sunday drive and stopped for lunch. We sat on the deck and the view was spectacular. We ordered three lager and stout and fish and chips from their limited menu. It was all very delicious but extremely overpriced. It cost us over a hundred dollars for lunch for four people! It's too bad... More
