From the name, you know what you should order. The fish and the chips were crispy and light. No oily aftertaste left on my pallet. My date had the seafood platter which included battered fish and shrimp but no scallops as were advertised on the menu. We had to ask and found out that they had run out of scallops... More

I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner here. I apologize your server didn't inform you there were no scallops. Your server also didn't explain the reason there were no scallops is that there was a recall because they had come into contact with milk products during production and milk is not listed on the ingredients. We had to return all cases... More

I normally don't give a 5 but this time I have to. Atmosphere was great (quiet). Service was great. If you like fish and chips, the food is awesome. I have also had the take home fish. It is great as well. Just don't over cook it as it becomes too crispy. I highly recommend the take home fish to... More

We always have a great meal when we are at Lord Elgin. Restaurant is always busy, the fish is fresh, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Fries are just as awesome. Fish and chips at its best.

Probably some of the best Fried Halibut I've ever had. The oil must have been perfect for a perfect fry. The batter was exceptional and the fish just amazing. I'd give the chips a solid 4, a good basic french fry. Service was fast and friendly. Nice pour on the glass of wine too. The award from Canadian Living Magazine... More

The fish was good but nothing special. I had the grilled fish and it could use some spices on it. The price was a bit on the high side for fish and chips. The decor is very basic.

Thank you for your review. We have the grilled halibut on the menu to meet many different dietary needs. For that reason we don't add salt or spices to the grilled halibut. I will be sure to train my staff to inform customers when ordering the grilled halibut that it is not seasoned. Thank you again for your input. More

We have eaten at Lord Elgins several times, in all seasons. The fish and chips are consistent, they are always good. The coleslaw is nice, has more flavour than your typical slaw. The fish is fresh cooked, the batter is crispy, and the homemade fries are good and there is often a slick of grease on your plate when you... More

Went there for lunch with the Wife as I had heard such good reviews. Decided on the fish lunchtime special. The good: the staff , service and the chips. Not so good. The fish. Too much batter and not that tasty. Overall just average. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the reviews. I'm not expecting it to be... More

Thank you for your review. I apologize if the batter was too thick. We generally have a light batter but once in a while the batter goes on too thick. The cooks should recognize this and cook a new order without that order ever making it to the table. I noticed there have been a few reviews stating the batter... More
