Delicious burgers and fries! I visited PEI in September 2019 and happened upon this cute restaurant with a friend who lives in PEI. We had the most amazing hamburgers and fries that when I returned to PEI with my new husband this year, I was...so happy to find that they managed to weather the pandemic intact. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been not knowing what the future would hold for a business that someone clearly poured her heart into and was obviously a favorite go-to amongst the surrounding farming community. In 2019 and in 2021 I watched them preparing mass-orders for the farmers, all while preparing our food as delicious as it was 2 years ago. The same juicy hamburger (not overly spiced which means it wouldn't be repeating all day) and fantastic fries. This year they weren't hand-cut due to having difficulty getting potatoes, but they were fried so well that they were PERFECT. The bun was soft and fluffy and our server was friendly. Please take the time to stop into this restaurant that is off the beaten path for tourists. They're not a tourist trap, so adjust your expectations to suit a little restaurant that primarily serves the farming community.More

Was almost empty when we arrived. Unclear instructions on where to sit/check in. Very affordable prices (was $23 for two people including tax & tip). Cute decor and homestyle cooking. Decent amount of parking available

f being served by Serena you will have the experience of a lifetime! So many times we have stopped in while on the Island and the meals have been fantastic and the service beyond measure. Whether for breakfast (we had 15 at one time) lunch...or supper, meals are hearty, service spectacular (Serena each time!). If heading through Mt. Stewart, make it a "must" stop and have a meal. If passing by - don't. Take a slight detour and grab a meal.More

Funny what you can find when you're not looking... Just a drive in the countryside and passed a little restaurant, Laurie's, that had a >>packed<< parking lot. Well, it was worth looking into and I'm certainly glad we did. Friendly service, great food, and reasonably...priced. It's worth looking for!More

My friend and I spent a few days at the Trailside Inn just up the street (also highly recommended!) and decided to give Laurie's a try for supper one night. We loved it so much we went back for breakfast, lunch, and once more just...for the pie. The staff were extremely friendly every single time we visited, and the food was consistently fresh and delicious, especially the cranberry walnut chicken wraps and, of course, the pie. Prices were in line with a casual diner standards these days but the food and service exceeded them by far. Will definitely go back any time I'm near Mount Stewart.More

Friends of ours highly recommended Laurie's to us for its tasty food, variety of selections on the menu and all around welcome home feeling. I had Fries with the Works, a maritime Poutine concoction of ground beef nuggets, veggies, and pei potatoes with gravy. Laurie's...stands with the best of 'em for crispy steaming hot food which makes it super scrumptious. My wife had soup and sandwich which she truly enjoyed.More

A healthy salad or a sandwich without red meat was almost impossible. . . but we did manage to order a tomato/lettuce sandwich .and a chicken wrap. The so-called sandwich came on Texas toast bread!! Apparently that's the only bread they use. OMG! And the...wrap was wet and doughy - not toasted. It was the second time we'd been and I wouldn't go backMore

Had a hamburger platter. The portions were good, but the quality was lacking. Hamburger was over cooked and left a terrible hanging taste, while the fries, which tasted like cardboard, I’m sure were of the frozen variety. Big disappointment, won’t go back

We were there for lunch and the food was great. We ordered chicken fingers and pan fried fish with mashed potato carrots. The server was efficient and polite and the food was made just right. We would definitely recommend eating here.

Been driving by on the way home for ages now and it is always busy, planned to stop in and that finally happened today. Lunch and Laurie's happened to be on our route homeward. As usual, there were several vehicles out front when we pulled...up. Immediately upon entering we were taken back about 30 to 40 years. Pleasing and welcoming entryway with some eclectic decor. The restaurant seating was thru a doorway to the right and it gave into a large common room with at least a dozen tables and chairs for various numbers of guest. There was also a counter with more than half-a-dozen stools if one chose to eat alone and didn't want or need a table. We (my wife and myself) were directed to a choice of tables by a friendly, smiling waitress and promptly given menus. I almost went for the Burger Love burger that was featured but I just knew that I could not finish it so instead I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a local brew to go with it. My wife chose a chicken, bacon, cheese wrap and opted for no sides and a pot of tea. The staff looked to be all family - although I did not ask - and one of the men came over and brought me my beer. There were two draft choices, plus several brands of bottles and/or cans. I went with Gahan's Island Red Ale, on tap. The other was Gahan's Sir John A's Honey Wheat Ale. While waiting for our meal I had a couple of sips of the brew and our server stopped by to ask how I liked the beer. I said that it was good and that I preferred a darker brew with food. He mentioned the Sir John A's ale, and I told him that I had not tasted it yet and so could not compare the two. He immediately went to a cupboard, brought out a glass and poured several ounces of the Wheat Ale for me to try. Very unexpected, but delightful just the same. I mean, who does that sort of thing anymore? My wife's wrap was of a size that made here eyes pop and my burger was a thing of beauty. She enjoyed her meal (all she could manage) and I enjoyed my burger. The burger bun was soft, yet held together nicely all throughout the eating. The burger itself was obviously handmade, and the bacon (3 generous slices) was cooked to a well-done, crisp state that made a perfect counter point to the softer tomatoes, lettuce, and sauces. I loved the crunchy, smokey bacon that I got in every bite. My fries were crisp, hot, and not soggy in any way at all. Did I mention that there was a lot of fries? No? well there was, and they were delicious. We are going to make a point of stopping in for breakfast in the near future and we will be bringing some friends with us so as to introduce them to the great food and the comforting atmosphere.More
