We ate lunch here as part of our snorkeling excursion. It was picked by Cancun Adventures. And it was great. Authentic and friendly staff. I think the salsa was made just before they brought it out.

I was there with my family, and they tried to overcharge me when the realized that I was paying the bill with dollars. If you go there, take PESOS with you, otherwise your bill will be twice as the regular price! Ps: they don't accept...More

Surprisingly the prices were fair and portions were large. The fish filet in butter with garlic was delicious. The quesadillas were exceptional. We had the bistec con queso and the camarones con queso were our choices. Nice breeze under the palapas!

A great place for dinner. Order the langostinos with crispy garlic. Enjoy a nice slow dinner with a fantastic atmosphere. The wait staff is attentive, and work to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.

We went the first night and had an amazing whole fish as well as octopus. Both spectacular, but make sure to have it prepared with the big chunks of garlic. Our waiter, Carlos (great guy!) offered us a fishing trip that we agreed to. 2...More

We went there for a night while staying in Akumal. And it was well worth it. I highly recommend the grilled fish simply prepared with some garlic. My wife had fish with a mushroom sauce which she thoroughly enjoyed. Fun atmosphere, great food.

The guacamole was delicious. Good service. Shrimp tacos are good! A mix of locals and tourist customers.

We are headed to Akumal in a few weeks. Is there any night life? Bars open late, live music?

La Cueva Del Pescador is a good spot for an amazing Mexican dinner, with the prices on food and drinks being quite reasonable. That being said it isn't really a party and nightlife type set up. Heading down to Playa Del... More

Would this be a good place for a family dinner to celebrate a birthday? We would be a party of 8-10. Would we need reservations?

Yes. They have lots of room and a festive atmosphere but also family friendly. I do not think you need reservations.

LA Cueva only serves fish. Waiters were acting on their own. Simply walk down to the beach or to one of the dive shops. You'll have many options to choose from. None are fancy, only open pongas, like big rowboats. Get... More
