Visited for our wedding anniversary with our two children. Excellent evening. Very flexible with our daughter who is not as adventurous as the rest of the family food-wise. Wonderful food, matched by great service. We will be back!

A weekend of birthday foodie fun had us eat here early Saturday as this popular place gets booked up quickly. We settled for the 3 course dinner menu which was excellent value with really tasty ingredients prepared imaginatively (but not theatrically so) . We all ordered different items and so we could see there was good breadth of choice and... More

Normally as a vegan I feel grateful if there is anything I can eat on a menu, especially in a classy restaurant. I called The Artichoke in advance and they were really good about it. Said that if I let them know in advance they would ensure me a full vegan tasting menu and no problem at all on the... More

Went for dinner yesterday evening having never eaten here before but had heard excellent reviews. We we're informed by a member of staff that if we were to have the tasting menu we needed at least 2 and a half hours having booked for 6.45pm and therefore moved the booking to 6.30pm as we had to give the table back... My third visit here and I felt things had slipped in terms of service. My elderly parents couldn't hear a thing because of background noise. We were sat opposite the entrance to the kitchen and between two tables. Lovely soup and sole but no option just to have two courses and I don't eat deserts. Seemed to take ages between... More

Nice atmosphere and busy. Very good food but some of it too salty for our taste and 12.5% service charge means +/- £200 is the spend, for the mandatory three course and a bouche amuse and palette cleaner, with coffee. It would be nice to see a two course option. Very attentive staff and enough of them. At this time... More

This is a very upmarket restaurant with big aspirations in this small market town. It's good, and well worth a visit. It's expensive, but you have to pay for Michelin stars. The food portions were really tiny, so unless you go for the tasting menu I would recommend taking some sandwiches to eat afterwards. We did find the service tried... More

Myself and my fiancée regularly visit the Artichoke, and even got engaged here - the food is beautifully presented and always of remarkable standard. The service is flawless and friendly. Very satisfied regulars looking forward to our next excuse to book in!

If you love fine dining, then the tasting menu with wine flight here is a must. Easily Michelin Star quality and service, incredible experience. Gastronomic delight.

An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old Amersham, the Artichoke restaurant has been tipped for the top by critics, chefs (including Raymond Blanc) and, rather impressively, the Michelin Guide 2011. The traditional setting of Artichoke has been given new life with a slick contemporary country makeover in which comfort and style sit side by side, colours are muted and soothing and the beautiful features of the building are allowed to shine through, a part of the carefully considered dcor. Chef and owner Laurie Gear oversees a refined modern European menu filled with charming additions including not only seasonal ingredients but foraged herbs, berries and flowers too and he and his team can be spotted hard at work in the open kitchen from the Kitchen Dining Room. Other spaces here at Artichoke include the glorious Garden Dining Room, opening out on to the bespoke herb wall and the Wine Room up on the first floor, leading in to the well stocked cellar and just right for sophisticated business dining. The perfect neighbourhood restaurant, Artichoke has certainly put Amersham on the map.
