Brilliant to have the good old sporty back - menu has been parred down but is so much better, can highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta and the burger. Nice warm friendly atmosphere now.

Myself and my boyfriend stopped in for a drink and what an awful place it is! Decor is so run down, wallpaper starting to peel off, really unappealing! The landlord was extremely rude, very unwelcoming when we walked in and this continued throughout our time in the pub. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Came in to the Sportsman for food in December with my partner as we were passing though and it was a terrible mistake. Food wasn't up to much and was mostly cold. Although our complaints fell upon deaf ears with the landlord who can only be described as a highly arrogant old man and that's putting it nicely. The decor... More

(I'm here just to review the roast potato) and it was very disappointing! Was kind of like a boiled potato and dark skin on the outside, no crunch, and not even cooked very well. Never used to have a problem in here before I think there is a new chef....that needs to learn to make a decent roast Tattie.

We were passing through the village looking for somewhere for lunch and spotted the sportsman. It does not look that appealing from the outside or inside but would only need a quick makeover to make it much more attractive. There is a decent selection of beers and lagers and a good selection of food from the menu. We selected 4... More

My husband and I had a meal and both meals were disgusting. I had bbq chicken which was supposed to have crispy bacon on top. The bacon was just sloppy fat and the chicken was just gross. My husband had a beef dish in some weird sauce which looked like dog muck! Harsh but true. His salad looked about 10... More

Most of our party had the Sunday roast, which was available in 2 sizes. That's a really good idea and suited our group. I had lamb and the meat was delicious. Another friend had a crab cakes with salad and that was very generous. Service was good and the deserts looked amazing - but we were too full. I love... More

Seven of us recently visited on a Saturday evening. The bar was not busy so we ordered a drink and sat down. 3 of us ordered Bruschetta which is toasted baguette type bread with tomato, onion, basil, vinegar & olive oil. What we received was a roughly chopped red onion, some tomato, a splash of vinegar and olive oil with... More
