My Wife and I went to the Chimneys in Hooton for lunch on the 8th of December, as soon as you walk in they had Covid Procedures in place.....or so we thought!!!!
The Staff had masks and kept their distant, but the serious infringement, was...halfway through our meal,, a table of 6 arrived from at least 3 different households and nothing was done or said to this party.
I am seriously disappointed in The Chimneys as in these times of restrictions
that most people are sticking to, to let this go is a shame and to be honest a total disgrace.
I have given 2 stars for the food and the service to us, but something needs to be done to make sure this infringement does not happen again.More

Thank you for taking the time to review about the COVID practices. I would like to say that it is our job to ask guests if they are from the same household, which we do. This particular party that you are referring to...More
Outstanding meal and service , we came here for a late lunch and a few drinks along with our dog.
The food was absolutely fantastic, the calamari was so light and fresh ( as it should be - not chewy ) and the burger was...so full of flavour it was delicious
We also had the crumble pudding , again , delicious 🥰
All the food was a high attention to detail regarding the presentation and could tell it was extremely good quality food
Fantastic hospitality throughout , always checking if we needed any more drinks , how the meal was
Very friendly service ; and excellency choice of wines
Thank you ,
we will be back very soon :)More
Phoned to check restaurant was open for Thursday lunch and was put through to automatic telephone reservation service, which said no availability within 2 hours of time requested. Drove there anyhow and found plenty of space and was shown straight to table. Very much enjoyed...3-course lunch with good (Doombar) cask bitter and americano coffee to finish. Main course Moving Mountain burger was particularly good - succulent and with a much better texture than many veggie burgers. All dishes were well presented and tasty. Service was excellent - friendly and attentive without being pushy. Not a lot of vegetarian choices, but enough to fully satisfy my need on this occasion.More

My sat nav had stopped working when I arrived.
Zoe at reception immediately set it up on my phone so I could find my way back.
Also she set up the covid app on my phone. I hadn't a clue how to...do it.
Steph the waitress was delightful. Cheerful and attentive
There are so many wonderful offers if you down load the Vintage App
Last week I had a free pudding and 20% off the bill
This week I had half price mains.
I live in Lancaster and have to visit my Mother in Law each week

We have been to Chimneys a lot over the years, but never again. Paid £13.95 for fish & chips & it was the size of a child’s meal. Most pubs fish & chips the fish is hanging of the plate not this one, the handful...of chips were hidden under a very small battered fish, only one good thing the batter was lovely. Husband had cod loin & tomatoes with potatoes & half a plate full of a tomato sauce, this was £14.95. Plates sizes have definitely shrunk in size & prices are very expensive. Not worth the money, & defo not pub prices.More
