What a welcoming canalside pub. Wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and very friendly staff. We could moor up our boat just outside which was very handy. Please support this wonderful little pub

Don't take any notice of the reviews from before May 2014. The new landlord of the Kings Lock is building a new experience. Its work in progress but believe me, the food exceptional. You can enjoy fresh produce. No dinging of the microwave here. The...More

Had a beautiful meal last night as a group of us celebrated my friend's 60th birthday. All the meals were excellent and the service was very good with attention to detail. Obviously this is run by a new owner who is "finding his feet", but...More

As mentioned previously, IGNORE comments before may. Beautiful scenery , watching boats go through the lock ....drinking local 'hunters' gin. Thought I was in my element, until the food arrived! Amazing, we ordered too much to mention but won't forget any of it! Especially good...More

Firstly - IGNORE all reviews prior to May 2014, they belong to a different set of owners and are well deserved. This is a complete NEW BALL GAME - new landlord has arrived, cleaned the place up, brought in good, quality beer backed up by...More

Ignore all previous reviews! A new landlord has taken over and set a new standard for the pub. He's excluding groups of lads and baseball cap wearers, introduced some excellent local real ales, lagers and ciders. Got live music in a marquee at the rear...More

A traditional canal side watering hole, steeped in waterways culture and heritage. Boat shaped bar features no corporates but 6 local craft ales and 3 local craft lagers are made available alongside real ciders and perrys. The food is quite simply out of this world, locally sourced of course, contemporary interpretations of heritage cuisine using traditional methods. Chef Tom's fresh and loving preparation of all dishes reflects his passion for cooking and the satisfaction he gets from delivering more than is expected. Enjoy lively folk sessions in the bar and waterside entertainment in the summer, including the Middlewich Folk 'n' Boat Festival in June. Slow down, take a break and find a way to enjoy Dean's hospitality and The King's Lock Experience.
