This is a lovely place to visit The service was very good , and the staff were very very helpful
There were 4 of us , so we went for the Tapas menu which was very tasty and well cooked
Although in the center of Nantwich the it felt very rural. No loud music, which gave us a chance to talk without having to shout to be heard.
The Cheshire Cat draught pint is to be recommended.
Only issue was that when we tried to order online we could not, but this didn't spoil our visit
Would happily recommend this pub and will visit again soon
Excellent Covid 19 safety precautions in place

Stayed here last Saturday night with my wife. It was recommended to us by her friend who stays her once every couple of months as she enjoys it so much.. our room, No2, was ready earlier than 3pm and was very clean and adequate with a large walk in shower wet room. Not a large room but big enough for a one night stay. Tea and coffee making facilities but disappointingly, no biscuits !!
All the staff were very efficient and pleasant and tended to our every needs. Evening meal was very good as was the service in what was quite a full dining room.. the building is quite unique and has lots of style, mixing modern with original Tudor decor. Breakfast is served to your table and was very good, particularly the great big fat sausage 👌couldn’t say the same about the scrawny piece of bacon though but it didn’t spoil our breakfast. Never been to Nantwich before but it’s a very nice old England town with lots of pubs and restaurants, charity shops and men’s barbers !!! Loads of them. We will return to Nantwich for definite and we will stay at the Cheshire Cat again next time. We thoroughly enjoyed or time there.

We booked a large table for a works leaving meal, around 10 of us.
Food was pre-ordered a few days before our meal and a ÂŁ5 deposit per head was taken. This is quite understandable in current circumstances with people cancelling etc, however a pain for the organiser trying to work out who pays what!!!
The food came at the same time for the whole group, so we were able to eat together rather than waiting. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals. However it was clear that some menu items had larger portions than others even with similar prices.
The service was hit and miss, the table was not cleared for some time after we’d eaten. Also, some waitresses were happy to take drink orders at the table, whereas one (quite rude) waitress kept sending people to the bar themselves.

Great food very poor service - not so much the speed of food as once ordered it can in a reasonable amount if time. Took over 20 minutes to take order and over 30 minutes once we finished main course to pay - no waiter returned to us at any point for over 1 hour. We had to go to the bar to get the bill. We wanted a desert but because of the poor service we did not want to risk further slow service. Must reiterate the food was very good !

I went to the Cheshire Cat for some food with a friend, we had booked a table online and so arrived for the time out table was booked (7:00pm). Upon arrival we were seated in a table that was completely out of the way, and noticed several Christmas parties, or tables with larger groups that clearly had the attention of staff.
We sat at the table for 45 minutes without even being approached by staff to take our drinks order, my friend had to find a waitress and ask if she could actually take out orders. Considering the booking placed so much emphasis on only having our table for the two hour time slot due to covid, having to wait almost half of that without anyone taking our order is poor.
We ordered our food which was lovely. I was keen to visit the Cheshire Cat as friends and relatives had said the food there was lovely, it’d a shame to say that the food was the only good part of my visit.
Once we had finished eating the staff were very quick to remove our plates and bill us, which is ironic as they were so slow to take our order. Though the waitress who took our payments was lovely, she added a ÂŁ5 tip to me and my friends payments. The total of our meal was something like ÂŁ42 and when she split it she said she would put ÂŁ25 each onto the card machine.
Now, I work as a waitress and I know tipping etiquette, but quite frankly I am not keen to be leaving a tip for a place that did not offer good service. I do also believe that there was already a ÂŁ2-ÂŁ3 fee within our ÂŁ42 bill to cover service, so just adding their own tip into our bill on top of this without properly asking seemed very very rude.
I also know places get short staffed due to the pandemic and Christmas is busy, but I think 45 minutes without even taking our drinks order is just too much.
I know it wasn’t an expensive meal, it wasn’t the end of the world or anything, it was just a poor experience and after telling my family about the service me and my friend received I don’t think any of us will be retuning to the Cheshire Cat for food again for quite a while.

I visited with three friends for food, hadn't booked but there were plenty of spare tables. One waitress promptly took our drinks order but then disappeared, with no sign of our drinks after 15 minutes. Another waiter came to take our food order and to collect our drinks (which had probably been sitting at the bar the whole time). The food took ages to arrive, and while we were waiting a THIRD member of staff came to take our order, and we had to explain that we had already ordered and were waiting! There seemed to be no organization or communication whatsoever.
When our food finally arrived, three out of the four dishes were wrong (fried egg when scrambled was requested, hand cut chips instead of fries, breaded chicken burger instead of chicken breast). Apart from the egg we accepted the food as it was, which admittedly was very good. Nobody came to offer desserts or more drinks after we had finished, and we had to flag a waitress down to get the bill. Other waiting on staff completely ignored us and were just standing at the bar gossiping. They also closed the kitchen 30 minutes early claiming that they were too busy, even though the dining area didn't look that busy.
We completely get that the pandemic has been challenging for the hospitality industry but there was no excuse for the poor service that day. We go to the Cat on nights out for drinks and love the place, but we won't be back for food in a hurry.

I was really disappointed with a visit for lunch yesterday, having eaten at the Cat on a number of occasions I recommend it for lunch with friends and my 5 year old. Staff were uninterested and did not seem to notice we we’re there. They served my 5 year olds drink in a pint glass which of course spilt on the table and a waitress who literally came to the table didn’t even offer to bring a cloth no attempt to clean it so I had to get tissues and do it myself. I then had to ask for a smaller glass. I don’t understand how they charge £5 for a kids meal and don’t include a drink ? We didn’t get asked about dessert for her even though this was included but at this point we were happy to leave. Completely get that the industry has struggled and service is naturally limited but this was so poor and not asking us anything about condiments etc . I won’t be returning or recommending that any of my friends or family do. The outside area had cigarette butts scattered on the floor while others were sat outside eating some with children in high chairs just filthy . Clean up your act Cheshire Cat. Lighting inside non existent dark and dingy it appears they give the impression they don’t want customers.

We have stayed here several times but it is now expensive. There is no longer a buffet addition to breakfast and the shower room has no heating and was a tad chilly. When our room was cleaned no cups or tea and coffee was left so we had to go and ask. The room was clean and a good size but to be honest no better than a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn for half the price.wouldn't book this again.

Very disappointed in tonight’s experience. My friends and I booked a table outside on the understanding that we would have a heater. However, we were given the only table without a heater. When we complained, we were told there was nothing that could be done.
We then realised that the table leg was falling off & asked for the table to be swapped. We were told there was nothing wrong with the table, it was just the uneven ground. I had to demonstrate to the waitress that the leg was falling off. Our meals were then served onto the broken table. We had to ask again for it to be swapped, disrupting our meal.
The food was average - a Christmas dinner with no cranberry sauce.
At the end of the meal we tried to order hot drinks. We all fancied a mince pie, but as the pub only serves caffeinated coffee, we asked if we could have a hot chocolate & a mince pie. The waitress said she would see what she could do, but then brought the drinks with no mince pies and no explanation/ apology. I asked whether we were allowed a mince pie and she said no, because the chef has already finished for the night. Does it really require a chef to take a mince pie out of a box and put it on a plate?
Very poor customer service & very disappointing, as we have eaten here many times before, but won’t return.

We had booked a table for 6 at 1pm on Sunday. When we arrived there was only one other table of 3 seated, drinks were served promptly and menus were given. We had to ask for our food order to be taken and it then took a further 45 mins for the food to come out!! When our food finally came out, 5 of us were extremely disappointed with our meals, if we hadn't been so hungry we would have left. All roast dinners were luke warm, roast potatoes undercooked, roast veg (what roast veg) and broccoli under cooked (we all like al dente veg). The cheesy leeks were nice as were the Yorkshire puddings. 2 people had the carmel brownie for dessert and both said it was really nice.
Would we return, definitely not! ÂŁ14 for a roast dinner which left a lot to desired is not acceptable, the service also needs to be greatly improved. My aunt is usually a big tipper when we go for meals and even she refused to leave a tip!!
One positive is that the one group member who didn't have a roast dinner was very happy with her chicken burger.

If you’re vegan, I wouldn’t bother going unless you’re prepared to pay £13 for a half-full bowl of melted vegan cheese and a pile of spinach…..because that’s exactly what you get when you order one of the only two vegan options.
The service wasn’t fantastic either, they were certainly understaffed which led us to wait for over half an hour to get the bill (we had been trying to catch a worker’s attention since we finished our meal). The lady who served us got distracted multiple times once we had finally asked for the bill, choosing to chat to other customers whilst sorting the transaction, even though we had expressed that we were in a rush to get somewhere in time (wouldn’t have been the case if we were seen to within the ten or so mins after we finished eating.)
Overall, the Cat is nice as a bar for a couple of evening drinks to start a night out; the music is good and the atmosphere is nice. However, I definitely would not recommend visiting in the day, ESPECIALLY not for food, as all of mine and my partner’s food was not enjoyable whatsoever and not clearly described on the menu.

So I went for lunch with my son on his birthday. I wasn’t impressed at all. The tzatziki dip tasted off so I just ate the chicken on my starter. We both had lasagna for our main and the moment I tasted the mince on the lasagna I knew it was off. I had another tiny taste to make sure. Oh and the coleslaw look pretty off putting. It took a while for our food to come which usually doesn’t bother me at all if the food tastes great. I can’t believe they’d serve food that was off and their labelling of dates or storage methods can’t be done very well. So it cost me £30 for 2 starters, 2 drinks and they also charged me for the chips I’d ordered as an extra to share with the meal and obviously didn’t eat.
The place is also a bit dingy and could do with being upgraded. My first impression when I actually walked in was to leave. Next time I’ll trust my instincts.
We both left very hungry and most dissatisfied.

Considering the fact I had high hopes for the meal, it was a bit of a let down. Throughout the evening we felt ignored by the staff, we appreciated the fact it was busy, but we could also see the waitresses stood in their area talking, when we felt like the could have come round to check on us. The food that we had was very over cooked to the point where it looked like it had been left on the grill because it had been forgotten about. I had the complain about the fries especially because they were quite literally over fried, with no flavour of potato. Overall, the service wasn’t great, the runners weren’t friendly and we felt like they didn’t want to be there. I was very disappointed considering the fact it was meant for a birthday meal.

We visited on Sunday 9th October. Three adults, three children. Table booked for 2pm, so I’d have expected this to be one of the busiest times of day. It wasn’t. It was empty. Probably a sign that it isn’t a rated place for Sunday lunch.
Despite there being only 3 groups to serve in total, the 3 staff were inattentive & spent the entire time chatting among themselves. Drinks orders took forever, as did someone taking our food order. We had to chase up on all occasions.
Waitresses were completely unfamiliar with the menu. They had no idea what dishes consisted of when asked, had no idea which flavour ice creams were on the menu, had no idea which dishes were off the menu (for both main & desert we were advised of items being off menu 15 minutes after ordering them).
Children’s food orders were incorrect, and then once corrected were just make-shift put together (burger buns were still partially frozen).
My husband’s desert was off menu (wasn’t advised of this until 15 minutes after order), BUT we were still charged for it & had to contest the bill. No apology.
Honestly, it was like a comedy sketch from beginning to end.
…..but the most frustrating part - when asked, “was everything ok”, and I explained the above, all I got was a gormless, “Aaaaaawh, sorry”. Honestly, the waiting on staff have no experience or a customer centric bone in their body.
Will not come back in a hurry.
No atmosphere & awful service.
A real shame as I have enjoyed visits there in the past, and what a lovely building. Please focus on bringing some character to the place - staff make a place what it is, and unfortunately this time it felt cold, soulless & characterless.

Here for a mid week birthday meal. Food was beautiful, took around 20mins to get a drink once sat down, over an hour for food as staff slow to take order. Spoilt by the very slow service, annoying when you can see them just standing talking. Would of had another drink but after 2.5hrs had enough
