About
The Crown Hotel has been a feature of Nantwich town centre for over 400 years. Over this time the Hotel has offered residents of the town and its visitors a warm comfortable welcome, bedrooms and a place to eat and drink. Nothing much has changed in this respect, however, tastes and the needs of the visitor have. Eating out has now become a part of everyday life for families, couples and social groups. Tastes have changed, demanding a higher provenance of where our food has come from; that it is cooked more healthily and presented in a clean unflustered manner. Local people are demanding local food cooked in a manner we are comfortable with yet, with an accent to the tastes and experiences gained on European holidays and perhaps further afield. The Casa restaurant at The Crown Hotel has been a part of the dining out scene in Nantwich for over 25 years, however, all things must change. After extensive research into the tastes, dining, socialising and casual drinking of the population of Nantwich and Cheshire, the Crown Hotel has embarked on a major change in the Bar and food offer at the Hotel giving birth to the newly refurbished Bar & Grill. A sleek new look and appealing menu will serve the diners of Nantwich and further afield for many years to come

This was the first time we took advantage of Wine Wednesday and it won’t be our last. You choose a large glass of wine for £9.50, spend £20 per person on food and your wine glass gets topped up for 2 hours. It could get messy. Our food was good, sirloin steak and tomahawk pork chop, both were nicely cooked and really tasty. Followed by a delicious cheese board. The wine flowed as well as the conversation. Highly recommend giving it a go, we’ll definitely be back.

If you’re looking for a fantastic meal with a vibrant atmosphere in a quintessentially English pub then look no further than The Crown. A meal at The Crown is very reasonably priced with a great selection on the menu that caters for everybody’s needs and requirements. The food is cooked to perfection and leaves you wanting more, the wine list has a superb selection that will accompany whichever meal you decide on. The staff at The Crown go above and beyond, they are polite and very accommodating and don’t hover round you leaving you to enjoy your meal in peace. I’m biased as this pub/restaurant is 10 minutes away from me and is my instant first choice. but don’t take my word for it, get yourself down there.

We both live in Nantwich, but this was our first visit to the Crown. The restaurant has a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had starters of bang bang cauliflower and a black pudding stack, accompanied by a goats cheese and pesto flatbread. Mains were a chicken caesar salad and fillet beef chilli noodles. All of the food was freshly cooked, piping hot, and arrived promptly. The beef noodles were exceptional. A good range of drinks are on offer, too. Fully worthy of a 5 star rating and we will definitely visit again.

The customer service that we received on Saturday 7th December was very poor and not to a standard that I would expect. The issues we had are as follows. We had to ask 5 times over a 25-minute period for 1 afternoon tea that were missing, as this was all pre booked I expected all food to come out at the same time. A member of our party found a piece of glass on their plate after putting their sandwiches on the plate, this was raised with a member of staff who took the plate away and said that the sandwiches would be replaced. 10 minutes later neither a new plate or sandwiches had been replaced and again we had to ask a member of staff when the replacement plate and sandwiches would arrive. It took a further 5 minutes for the plate and sandwiches to arrive. We had to ask 2 members of staff when the tea and coffee would be served and then the service was poor when it arrived. I had to ask for 2 afternoon teas to be boxed as due to the weather conditions they were unable to come. I advised a member of staff about the 1st one when we arrived and before we started our afternoon tea advised another member of staff about the other one. When we came to leave, I asked for the 2 afternoon teas that had been boxed and again it took over 10 minutes for this to be sorted. At no point were we asked if everything was ok by any member of staff which is standard practise and as we had spent £590.15 which was all paid up front I did expect to have had a much better experience and all the above issues could easily been address had a member of staff just been allocated to our party to make sure that everything had arrived at the table and all tea and coffee served.

The atmosphere in the pub was very good albeit very noisy. The service was a bit slow and on two occasions during the evening the waitresses got the order wrong. The food was OK. The most annoying part was the booking process. I booked 5 weeks in advance for 7 people. I explained that 3 out of the 7 people were diabetic, and in common with everywhere else we visit, I asked if they could supply a simple fruit salad. I received confirmation of the booking but nothing about the request. 4 days before our booking I received an email from the pub saying that they had just noticed my request and "Apologies but unfortunately we do not have fruit salad available as an option on our menu, so we won't be able to provide this for you." I was absolutely appalled that such an organisation within the hospitality sector could, and would, discriminate against people with a chronic condition. I have never been treated like this before and, without exception, other premises have bent over backwards to accommodate us. Also, had they informed me of their unwillingness to demonstrate any flexibility in a timely period, I would have cancelled the booking and denied them their £250 income.

The location and venue are very pleasant but I regret to report that our experience was a very poor one. We booked a table for three for 12:30 via the website (that was the best part) and confirmed again the day before. Having arrived on time to an (almost) empty restaurant, we then sat down and waited 45 minutes to be served our food. By the time it came the restaurant was heaving with diners. Others were served before us and it was obvious that the food, when it arrived (after we complained, politely) had been held under heat lamps. For the price it was of average quality so, given the above experience, we will not be returning to dine here. We were rather astonished to hear from one of the staff that they “…hadn’t expected Monday to be so busy!” Really? The week before Christmas? This is down to poor management.

Whilst there is no doubt this is an established and respected pub in Nantwich I was massively disappointed today. On many previous occasions this has been a lovely venue with ok pub type food Today however I ordered a meal that wasn’t what I expected. I has ordered a Katsu curry which was a piece of bread crumbed chicken with rice and an incredibly sweet Korma sauce Nothing like any Japanese influenced dish I’ve ever eaten and as a result wasn’t to my taste. The staff reluctantly changed it with less than good grace. I ordered a simple chicken skewer in place was advised it would take around 10-15 mins My dining companion thankfully had a salad so was happy to wait for my food to arrive After waiting 40+ minutes my lunch was no where to be seen. And as we were rapidly running out of time I asked for the bill for the salad my friend ate and the glass of wine I’d drunk…. Herein started the saga of the “restaurant manager” as she told me she was the manager when I felt uncomfortable with her aggressive attitude towards me. I have no idea if she is the manager but if she is I’d suggest a quick refresher on handling unhappy customers to the senior team to avoid this happening again. She was bolshy, awkward and argumentative There was absolutely no “hospitality” in her way of dealing with people. She went in to vocally accuse me of being offensive and threatening and also accused my friend of the same. In his defence he had not uttered a word! I was left feeling humiliated in front of other diners and even the bar manager came out to apologise about her behaviour Needless to say I won’t visit again even if I’m invited to a private event there. The hospitality industry is in dire circumstances and only the good will survive and this was by far a good experience

The food was fine, but I was shocked to find that if I wanted vegetables with my £18.50 meal, I had to pay an extra £4!!! I'm not keen on eating solo, but some places you feel more comfortable. I felt awkward in this setting. Also a bell or buzzer sounded each time a dish was ready for the waitress to pick up, which didn't help relax the atmosphere. I enjoyed the meal in the small pub where I was staying much more the following night (and the main course, which was just as good - cost £16.50 including veg!).

We went for a latish (2 pm) family Sunday roast as a group of four adults. The food was very good, although the service was very slow, despite that the restaurant was far from full. Although drinks were served quickly and the food order (roast course) was taken fairly promptly, the food didn't arrive for nearly an hour. As two of the group had to catch a train at 4.30pm, there wasn't time for a dessert. Pity. We like the Crown for food.

Service was good but the food was terrible as we got told at 17.30 on a Sunday they had no Yorkshire puddings left for the roast. No discount and still charged full price. The cauliflower was rock hard like chewing bricks and that was the same for the cauliflower cheese. The sauce was grainy and too much mustard in the cheese sauce. Roast potatoes and parsnips lacked sun. The roast beef was overcooked and the pork. It's a roast dinner it's not rocket science whoever the chef is needs sacking off. I won't be coming back anytime soon as it's 20 pound for a roast dinner but grandad from only fools and horses could whip up a better burnt roast 😂.

This was a lunch for 17 people. We had, understandably, been asked to pre order . On arrival we were seated, room made for the wheelchair user and orders taken for drinks, which arrived very quickly. All 17 meals arrived at the same time, all very nicely presented, hot and very tasty. dishes quickly removed and desserts served. Whilst finishing desserts our coffee orders were taken. The staff were excellent, in fact we never noticed they were there, which was perfect. I really can't find fault, especially when there were so many of us eating from all over the menu. The kitchen must be very well organised. The price of the food, considering the quality and portion size, was I thought very reasonable, in fact cheaper than the pub down the road which is very basic. it's the first time I've eaten there, in fact it wasn't first choice but that restaurant didn't want 17 covers on a Friday lunch time, their loss, and I'll certainly be back to the Crown.

Went for Sunday lunch which was lovely. Had sharing flatbread to start with goats cheese etc really tasty and perfect for a starter. Sunday lunch veg was just right and really proper gravy! Only negative was one waitress was very surly I asked for some apple sauce and it was virtually thrown at me! Other waitors were lovely though.

On this occasion we were disappointed with the long wait for food. It took 40 minutes to take our order, for 6 of us, and the food arrived (with prompting) 1 hour and 50 minutes after we arrived. Thankfully the food was nice. It was very busy and the staff were busy running around everywhere. Maybe too many tables booked in at similar times?

Disappointing experience, on arrival was greeted with "you only have the table booked for 2 hours", nice welcome! The food was expensive for what it was, small portion sizes, poor quality. Mentioned issue to waiting staff, who just shrugged and vaguely apologised. Nobody checked up on us during the meal but rudely interrupted us mid conversation to present the card machine for payment, we were only 1.5 hours into our allowed time, so no overstay. Shame as this used to be a quality venue.

Stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. The hotel has the historic charm of uneven floors, walls and stairs. Stay was basic but very spacious and had everything we needed. The notable thing here though is the food and welcoming staff. Staff were cheerful and the food was so so tasty! Come breakfast time, we enjoyed the delights of the full english which also tasted very good.
