Great pub, great campsite. By the canal and lovely views and relaxed feeling, amenities are good without being ultra modern and the pub on the canal is an added bonus. You can sit there all day and watch the world go by.

My partner and I cycled here a few times and also visit on the motorbike during Summer. We usually just have a drink and sandwich. We struggle to get seats outside at times which is fair enough as the view of the canal is lovely. Nice atmosphere and nice food, will be visiting again this summer!

Fireside delicious meal with great service. We took our son (7) for Saturday lunch. Friendly, welcoming and without delays. Lovely facilities. Wish it were closer to the High Peak where we live!!

visited this pub recently for their usually good Carvery (1st time in September) but sadly the whole experience has left a nasty taste in our mouths literally! the meat tasted 'off' and the vegetables soggy and overcooked. It wasn't topped up freshly as per our last visit which made me wonder if it was stuff left over from previous week?... More

For the second time in two weeks we walked to this pub only to find it closed.Their Web site states it is open but they seem to close it without warning.Given this is a pub on the canal path they really are taking a chance with future custom. When we were there last in the summer they closed the kitchen very... Me, my partner and family we went for a Sunday dinner and the food was amazing, you could eat as much you'd like, lots of room for sitting area and outside area too if the weather is nice and looking outside at the boats, we couldn't of asked for anywhere better to stay to eat our Sunday roast! Will be... More

Appalled by The Shady Oak. This used to be a lovely rural pub but is clearly on a death wish. We had booked a table for 11 to meet family from Derbyshire and Lancashire at 1pm. Received a call at 11.30 to say the chef was ill and there was no food. Absolute nightmare on Boxing Day. Landlord did not... More

Description
The Shady Oak is a newly refurbished country free house under the ownership of a family business. The pub is situated on the side of the Shropshire Union Canal, with beautiful views of Beeston and Peckforton Castle from our large beer garden. We serve food daily, as well as a wide range of lagers, ciders, traditional ales, wines and tea and coffees. The Shady Oak also has a campsite on the grounds, with hardstanding pitches for caravans and many pitches for tents, with the option of electric hook up on every pitch as well as a well maintained shower block and washing facilities. In the pub, we allow dogs up in our 'top bar' to allow a separate area for those who may wish to drink/dine with their canine friends.
