We popped in for a roast dinner this Sunday along with our dog. With tales of local produce and a good selection of ales it really sounds like our perfect kind of place! Unfortunately the reality is somewhat lacking. Tough, over cooked roast beef, anaemic under-seasoned roast potatoes and bland veg. We then attempted a pudding to see if there... More

We haven't been here for a while and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the value. For starters I had scallops, very well cooked with a deep fried pea fritter, mmmm! My husband had goats cheese and walnut starter, lots of different textures and flavours, delicious. For main I had the venison which was... More

The pub was empty when we arrived yet we still had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken - and that was with us asking! We waited a reasonable amount of time for our food and it was worth the wait. We've eaten a lot of nice steaks and this was up there with some of the... More

First family visit to this village pub that offers a great selection of good quality dishes. A little quirky layout with lots of open fires and the beer range not bad either. Worth a visit.

Food was over priced and poor quality. Service was slow and staff overworked. I had the roast but wish I hadn't bothered. I Could have done better myself and fed the family for the price of my one dinner.

I have just returned from visiting this place. I popped in here with a friend for a late lunch while driving through the Cheshire Countryside on the way back from Birkenhead. It's in a little village just off the main road. The bar reminds you of one of those old country inns that Britain used to be so proud of.... More

Had a warm welcome on arrival by a charming hostess. All the fires were lit and it felt cozy and inviting. Had the fish pie which was excellent. Would have quite like prawns in it as well if I'd been making it, but that's just personal preference. Good selection of craft beers and food choices. A warm welcome, nice atmosphere,... More

Stayed over night on the way back from Chester. Very welcoming staff, amazing food and a great selection of gin! Great walks from the pub. Will definitely stop again. Thanks for having us 👍

We are here on Boxing Day with 3 generations of the family and all enjoyed the food. The choice on the menu was a bit different from normal pub grub with game pie and pheasant 2 of the choices the family made. They brought the little ones main course with the starters which always helps. Unfortunately my monkfish was very... More
