Only popped in for coffee and cake but wanted to return for dinner. Alas it was fully booked. Very interesting place and worth a visit if you are walking to Spout or in the area. Menu looked good and wholesome, but quality.

10 friends away for a weekend reunion, we booked into the cross keys, we'd been before and loved the quaint and quirky restaurant, the staff are so friendly and helpful. This time did not disappoint as always the food is fresh home cooking, served with plenty of fresh veggie, there are a few veggie options too! Everything was superb from... More

Called in on a weekend away in North Yorkshire for lunch on Saturday (5 11 2016). Will definitely be making a return visit! Alan, the owner, invited us to join him in the parlour whilst we decided on what to eat. Many other travelers also joined the chat. Alan was a fabulous host, full of quirky anecdotes and local information.... More

Arrived for a private 60th birthday party and had a brilliant time. Roaring open fire, low beams and food to die for. Brilliant. I had Black Pudding to start, Cannon of lamb then Crundle - fantastic and good portions too. Lovely. would be happy to go back.

This is a remarkable place to eat - its in the middle of nowhere but with great views of the hills all around it. We sat by an open fire to order and then at the end of the meal for our coffees - great atmosphere. The menu has good old fashioned English, all homemade and very tasty. Well worth... More

On the way home from Ravenstonedale, we decided to visit the Crosskeys Temperence inn, what a mistake that was, we went in for a coffee, but instead my partner got the third degree of the nosey landlord, we are very private people and don't like to discuss all our business with all and sundry after just wanting to be with... very interesting chatted with the owner who told us about the history and claims that it is probably the only temperance inn left in England. Didn't eat there but the coffee and hospitality was great

We are tourists from the the South of England visiting this wonderful part of the world and heard about the Cross Keys from some of the local folks and the National Trust Handbook. And wow, what a recommendation. Although open during the day for snacks and lunches, the Inn is only open in the evenings certain days of the week... More

We enjoyed our dinner here very much. The food was honest and unspoilt by superfluous cheffy touches. The standard of cooking was high with each course being delicious. Standout dish for us was the crundle pudding. The inn has a Lovely ambiance and is in a great setting. As this is a temperance pub they have a long list of unusual... More

This place is a must to visit on the way to sedbergh. Step back in time with its original sitting room and lounge not changed in a hundred yrs. Coffee and home made scones . But take a walk out back and sit and see the view breath taking . Shut on Mondays . Don't miss this one
