Out for a meal with a couple of friends as hadn't been here for ages. We were seated fairly quickly and given time to relax and peruse the menu - doesn't take long as quite limited selection. Other than fish & chips, madras curry and a few veg options, everything is pretty much 'meat' and chips. Starters were good -... More

My wife and I called in for our tea on a recommendation from people I work with. Not feeling really hungry we just had a main course. I had the steak burger my wife the mushroom burger. We ordered drinks and were shown to the dinning area. We could of eaten in the dinning room or the conservatory. Our food... More

See my review of the Manor House, St. Bees to compare. The Queens starts serving food at 6pm (this may be seasonal as we're here in January so just give them a call, they're very friendly and helpful) and we, 4 adults, a baby and a dog visited at 5pm this evening. We went into the bar, where we were... More

Enjoyed dinner at the Queens Hotel. All the staff were welcoming and the food delicious. We sat at a table next to a roaring log fire which, considering the lashing rain and high wind outside, was really welcome. The menu isn't extensive but they have daily specials. Portions are enormous and the food was served piping hot. Very pleasant evening,... More

Fantastic meal and friendly staff at the Queens this evening. Very much to be recommended. Our party of 3 had a baked camembert and a piri piri hummous as a starter which we all shared which were both great followed by a steak, a burger and a salmon salad as main course which were all excellent. Fantastically friendly staff and... More

Arriving early at the pub/restaurant, we availed of a nice beverage - good beer for the OH and nice wine for myself and aunt. The bartender advised as soon as we asked about food that dinner is available after 1800, and that evening, was a curry night. None of which was a drama for us. about 5 mins before 1800,... More

Our family of three peckish walkers on a local coast and village walk discovered the hotel at lunchtime on Sunday. The bearded man in charge of the bar made efforts to answer our (sorry, the wife's) idiosyncratic menu questions and happily adapted the printed menu to accommodate her. When the food arrived it was good quality and clearly fresh -... More

We pre-booked a meal here mid-week at the start of our Coast to Coast walk. It was very busy with a large group who had arrived just before us, and, as we were given a table right next to them, we found it noisy and the service slow. I think we were just unlucky however as the food and wine... More
