We continue to be regular visitors here as part of a large group of former colleagues. The food is good, with generous portions and good service. The refurb has modernised the Restaurant area. Good choice of hand pulled beers. Prices are very reasonable

The staff weren't friendly and the food was ok, but good value. The tables were too close together so it was hard to get in and out, and the staff didn't know what desserts were avilable for children. Average pub food in our view, which...More

Visited for the first time since its refurbishment and was not dissapointed, a lovely place and we were so impressed with the quality of the food. Superb menu choices and the best pub meal we have had in years. Will certainly be going back.

As we live fairly locally, we visit the Black Boy on a regular basis. Why? Because we can always depend on the variety of the menu, the quality of the food and the standard of service! In our estimation, the fish (whether haddock or cod)...More

My wife and I went for a meal on Saturday, and were greeted by lovely, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. We booked on spec, never having been in to Derbyshire before and found a real gem! A great display of real ale,...More

Found this place on internet and what a delight. Airy modern restaurant with excellent food. Service slow and although they cook everything to order, could be a little quicker. Kids waiting over 30min for a burger causes noise and disruption.

There are tables that would be accessible for people with disabilities. It would be prudent to mention this when booking to ensure you have such a table reserved. Indeed, it is such a popular place that you'd need to book... More

This is a traditional village pub which has a restaurant area and does very good, simple food, that is cooked fresh to order. The bar area has recently been refurbished to a high standard, and an extension has created an additional dining area which is disabled friendly.
