We came upon Rose Cottage after walking up Mam Tor, along the ridge towards Lose Hill. The staff were very friendly, with the place maintaining a cosy comfortable feel. The lunch was of good quality, perfect after a long walk. Being vegetarian, the cafe provided some lovely options. Make sure you try their apple pie or Bakewell tart (truly scrumptious)!

Called in for lunch and were warmly welcomed by a pleasant member of staff. Enough tables at this time of year (Feb) and an outdoor seating area for better weather. Not a massive menu choice, but sufficient, plus a specials board. Anything from coffee and cake to a cooked meal, plus sandwiches, etc. so should be something to suit everyone.... More

Popped in today for a spot of lunch as have been here a couple of times before and it was OK. The lady on the next table had a lovely looking beef ciabatta sandwich which looked huge, so me and my husband ordered a beef with onion chutney ciabatta with melted blue cheese sandwich to share at £6.95 and ordered... On a spontaneous visit to Castleton on a cold snowy day after a small walk, we popped into this little gem of a cafe. The staff where very friendly even showed us to a nice table next to a radiator so we could dry off our coats and gloves, had a pot of tea for 2 and some of there... More

Walked into here to be greeted by a rude women who I assumed to me the boss. We were looking at the cake selection to decide if we wanted to stay but before we could even look she'd told us that there were plenty of tables for two so to sit down. We did so on her orders but thought... More

I have been to Rose Cottage a few times. The food is always freshly prepared on request and I have never been disappointed. Staff always make you feel very welcome. The restaurant is well laid out so even though it's not big it still feels spacious. In summer you can enjoy your meal or coffee outside in the lovely rear... More

Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 childrens, decided to stop here for an afternoon snack. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who showed us to a table. The decor was cosy and was warm which was great after coming out of the cold. The cafe seemed to be clean also.Myself and my partner had homemade apple pie... More

We go to Castleton semi-regularly and usually call into this place for lunch or tea and cake. They do very nice food indeed and the cakes are home-made. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is a nice garden for when the weather is good, and a covered area with heaters for when it’s not! The inside is cosy too.... More

Not many tables in the Cafe but plenty of space. Food prepared on request therefore hot/fresh when you receive it. Order at the counter and then served to your table. Easy to find on Main Street. Prices are reasonable. Menu is quite extensive and tries to suit all tastes. Childrens menu also. Our order was for a couple of jacket... More
