First cafe we stumbled on after a walk! Having no cash we checked that they accepted cards, which it clearly states on the door which are accepted!! The "charity shop" downstairs was dirty and fusty but we still went upstairs for drinks for some unknown reason! Nothing has been cleaned or dusted since 1960's including the owner and his clothing!!... More

If only I had checked Trip Advisor before stopping here for a grimy cup of tea and a stale microwaved scone served with sour cream in the grottiest surroundings. Only the view could be commended. Sadly I think the location of what looks like a quirky little cafe, the first you encounter when walking down in to the village, will... More

...... but what we actually found was Steptoe's back yard with Uncle Albert from 'Only fools and horse's' as the waitress !! We were feeling cold after coming out of Peak Cavern and needed a hot cuppa and cream scone to warm us up. The 'Hidden teashop' was the first teashop we came across and we were enticed in by... Called for snack on a cold afternoon. If I hadn't been with my niece and her young son (who was fractious as he was hungry), I would have walked straight back out of the place. Met with junk shop on the ground floor and dark, dismal café on the first floor. The owner was friendly and pleasant to us but... More

Blisteringly cold day so we were thankful for a place to stop in and have a hot drink. We ordered a combination of hot tea, coffee and chocolate along with "handmade" scones. The scones were a little odd - he claimed he made them every morning, which I do believe, but I felt like there were maybe bits of his... More

Agree with all other reviews, dark and dirty place, extemely overpriced, 'unusual' owner, bullying approach to customers, inappropriate language used. In hindsight we would have preferred to go without a drink than go here.

We found ourselves in this place because Castleton was so busy on a pre Christmas afternoon. All the Main Street cafes were bursting. Whatever people might think of the place and the proprietor, the fact is,it is a rip off. £10 a head for a hot chocolate (albeit with a dash of Baileys) and a couple of very small, stale... More

My girlfriend, my daughter and my parents spotted a bizarre, hand scrawled sign for this tea room opposite the Castleton Visitors Centre. Curiosity for the odd advertisement and charming name got the better of us and we set off in search of the Hidden Tea Room feeling somewhat sorry for the owner who's parting shot on the sign was "unless... Sadly I've got to agree with the other unflattering reviews. We couldn't get a seat in the cafe we first tried and notice the hand written sign for the hidden tearoom so headed off to find it. Our experience wasn't quite as bad as others but I did regret our choice. Unsurprisingly we were the only people in the cafe.... More
