Came here 3 times in our stay in Castleton for the atmosphere, top trumps on a rainy day, fire and food. Especially rate having access to a tasty Vegan option for one of this couple.

Visited this afternoon for quick lunch before a walk around Castleton, it wasn't very busy. Immediately noticed the quirky interiors which we loved. All orders are placed at the bar and you pay there. The food is bought to you. I had a Sunday dinner and my partner had a burger. My food was lovely but I had food envy... More

Lovely. Seems to specialise in various types of burgers although other things also available. Didn't have fish and chips or Yorkshire puddings.

On a geocaching/dog walking outing in this glorious area. Parked opposite this pub at lunchtime (you get parking fee refunded if you spend over £10). Inside it is a delight of candlelit corners and fun, quirky decor including a skeleton guarding the piano. Quiet efficient friendly service. Hot tasty food-we had soup and paninis. Dogs (well behaved) welcome. Average prices.... More

Popped in for a quick lunch before a walk round Castleton, with family and two spaniels. Really impressed with this traditional pub that has great quirky touches (skeleton sitting at the piano, paintings on the ceiling). Greeted by the friendly and professional barman. Nice selection of ales, gins and a good food menu. Food service was really quick, was tasty,... More

Visited as a group of 6. Table booked for 8.30pm a couple of hours earlier. (We had tried to book a table in 4 other pubs in Castleton prior to this, and they were all fully booked, which perhaps should have rung alarm bells!) We decided to skip starters and our mains order was taken promptly and served within 30... More

We were staying in the village of Castleton and used Trip advisor to get the best rated pubs where we could take our dog. Not only did we have wonderful food, but Jess was also given treats and we were made most welcome. The chilli had just enough fire to make you glow and the sea bass was excellent with... More

We parked in the hotel's car park across the road by chance when were a bit lost as to where we were supposed to be going on a Sunday morning. We went in for food, but they didnt start serving until 12. So we went for a wander to Perevil Castle, then came back again. We had steak pie and... More

We called in here twice on a recent visit to the area. The candles burning in the window first attracted us in, on a cold snowy afternoon. It was a lovely place to dry out and warm up, in front of the fire. The welcome for us and our dog was lovely: open fire, dog treats, good beer, fine gin... More

Visited after a cold day out in the peaks. Sunday lunch was great. 2 vegetarians and a meat eater all enjoyed their meals. A good selection of vegetables, lovely nut roast and overall huge portions. Service was quick and polite. Just what we needed, would visit again.
