Visited on a sunny day after a very muddy walk. Because to get to the coffee shop you have to walk through the gift shop I felt really guilty. Castleton is very much an outdoor ton so it is shame when cafes and pubs are not walker friendly. We sat outside despite the fact it was February. Cakes were average,... More

It was the first time we had visited this cafe and me and my mum were very impressed, so much so that we went twice in one day!! On each visit we sat in the same spot, looking out onto the street and watching the world go by. The layout of the shop was very unusual with lots of things... More

The staff seemed very stressed and unwilling to help. We cleared our own table as all tables had dirty crockery in them. Then when wanted serving was ignored by staff member, even thought at that point we were only people waiting. The cake selection was disappointing with many wrapped in plastic as bought from booker cash & carry. We had... More

We visited today to use a cream tea voucher. My parents joined us. We were greated by a friendly, cheerful and helpful couple. The cream tea lunch was lovely, freshly made to order, beautiful scones and little touches like salad and coleslaw. My parents had lovely hot food sandwiches. Our 2 year old little boy was welcomed, spoken to, kept... More

I really enjoyed my visit to the Causeway café in Castleton. I went in with my partner for a coffee, but couldn't resist their selection of gorgeous cakes. My flapjack was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly

Called in for a late lunch here and had excellent toasted sandwich and baked potato. Very spacious inside with some gifts and cards. Cakes looked pretty good.

We went today for a cream tea and scones with the kids. The scones were excellent and served warm. The menu is simple but has a touch of luxury. The gent who (I think) was an owner (?) was very kind to my family and made us feel so welcome - wet coats and all. He was of a friendly... More

We visited using a Groupon voucher for cream tea lunch for two...what excellent value! We had a choice of ham, tuna mayo or cheese and onion sandwiches. Our choice came served on a stand. Bread was thick and fresh and had cucumber/tomato decoration . We also got warm fruit scones with jam and clotted cream plus a chocolate truffle with... More
