As pubs were, but with the difference of wonderful craft ales rotated at dizzying speeds. No TVs or music, just people talking to each other over beer that's as wonderfully kept as it was cheap. Go there before the chains move in to 'improve' it.

Just needs a few quid spending on deco and the men's toilets a bit stinky, but, that's the atmosphere that brings me back to... More

This pub is Old School....it's like going back in time inside which is a good thing. Its got loads of character. The Landlord and staff really know there stuff and rotate the beer choice so there's always something new to try! Ideal for a quite pint and a chat with friends.

Fair range of good ales, well kept. Lively crowd of customers, many thirty-somethings. Distinct shortage of grumpy gits hogging bar stools. Quiet back room with interesting photos and posters.

With snake pass closed my wife and I called into the Star Inn to cool down and discuss how we might get home. What we found was a real English pub with an excellent selection of real ales and a real draught cider. The landlord was friendly and very helpful with his advice on which road to take. A veritable... More

When you visit the Star you know you are going to have to make decisions. There is always a good selection of beer and you could have a mini beer festival without going anywhere else. A good mix of customers young and older gives the place a good atmosphere.
