Passed by this lovely inn travelling home in a snow storm, we were hungry and tired, and goodness me it was a delightful place. The staff are very friendly, the food was lovely and it's dog friendly. We had the 1lb burger, yes you are not mistaken 1lb! It came with salad and corn chips (Doritos), we ordered a portion... More

Stopped here whist travelling for some lunch, were greeted with a lovely warm welcome from the couple who run the pub. The food was delicious, my husband said he would drive that far again just for the meal he had. Clearly a popular place as it soon started filling up. Excellent all round!!

After a pleasant, unrushed reception we sat at a candle lit table in the bar area of this old, low-beamed pub. It is quite dark but that is the character of the place and we were more than comfortable with this. I was feeling particularly hungry as we had been out walking locally and my appetite was well stimulated. So... More

My husband had lamb shank and I had chicken jerk - both were delicious. Service was quick and staff were lovely. A nice atmosphere and great place to dine. Not so quiet even on a Monday night

Came here as a large family group on Sunday, lovely atmosphere, amazing food and top class staff, keep doing what you are doing because I haven't seen a busier pub on a cold miserable January Sunday evening for a long time!!!

It was a cold Friday evening in January and we were looking forward to a nice meal near the roaring fire. We travelled all the way from Sheffield but they did not deliver what the website had promised. The fire had gone out, the chair I sat on had a broken leg and I fell over a dog cage on... More

This is a largely unspoilt, traditional country pub. The menu is as you would expect in such a place, but the food was excellent. The steak was delicious but the dripping cooked chips were exceptional. In my view, many pubs underestimate the importance of getting the chips right. Cooking in dripping allows the chips to be finished off at a... More

We enjoyed our drinks more than the food, the beer was well kept but my steak was a little tough and the peppercorn sauce quite odd. The staff were friendly and the open fire warm and welcoming. They can do better and I think they need to do so.
