Booked a table for 2, to be told on arrival "we are not serving food as we haven't had our delivery!" No attempt made to phone me of this situation, apparently they didn't have my number! As a result, we had a lovely meal at the Rose & Crown, Grendon. Won't be rushing back to Red Lion to eat anytime... More

The pub has just had a much needed revamp. Looks great, has a great menu with reliable service and food. Happy landlord! All in all, happy to call it my local 😄

Pub has recently changed hands and had a limited makeover. Food on various Menus advertised, Lunchtime, Evening 7 days per week. Trying to support our local hostelry we first tried to eat under the new regime. On Sunday 11th September, Web advertised food 12-17:00. Arrived at 16:00 only to find. "Oh we stopped doing food at 3" Had a couple of... More

The manager/owner is very dour and it sets the tone for the atmosphere in this village pub. They try hard with the food etc but they need to be more welcoming and cheerful. Tends to be busy at the weekends and very quiet in the week

We are pleased and grateful that our efforts with the food are recognised. Creating atmosphere in a pub of two distinctly different halves is a challenge. We will consider how best to address this and we appreciate the time taken by the reviewer in posting the Trip Advisor review. We like to let our home made food do the talking... More

I have never encountered a ruder member of staff in a bar. She made it clear from the outset that she thought herself much better than everyone else was rude to the other staff and when I asked to complain to the Landlord was told I couldn't AVOID THIS PUB!!!!!!

We are seriously concerned that this review is not written about our pub. This is for 2 reasons: 1. As the landlord I am always available when the restaurant is open. I am always on the floor or behind the bar and am highly visible to the diners. It would not have been possible to refuse a request to speak... More

We've lived in the area for 6 years and only now got around to going to The Red Lion. They have a really fun deal with a 'directors' table' for the World Cup. Hopefully they'll repeat the idea for the RWC next year, when we will definitely take them up on it. There were clearly some regulars there today -... More

Had a lovely pub meal today with some of my colleagues. For starters, the staff were friendly and attentive, which sets the scene for the rest of the experience. The food I ordered arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious (burger topped with goat's cheese, which came in a lovely lightly toasted bun, with some delicious chunky chips, coleslaw and a... We cannot help but feel disappointed after our experience this evening. The main difficulty was the lack of staff. One poor beleaguered member of staff was clearing tables, cooking and serving whilst the other manned the relatively quiet bar. We waited almost an hour for food and when it arrived it was mediocre at best. The best we can say... More

We've just had a really good meal out at this charming little pub. It was extremely reasonable, the food was good and staff very friendly. I can thoroughly recommend it for a meal out with friends and family.

Following a previous trip here we decided to try the Sunday Lunch. Wife had Beef and I had Lamb, both were absoltley superb, meat was cooked to perfection and came with a a really nice selection of vegetables. One of the best roasts Ive eaten out.
