Let me start by saying , the food was great. It really was, but - It was a very hot day and we were seated in an airless verandah with plastic covering all the windows. We were given a winter menu and all felt uncomfortably hot .

This is a great family run German restaurant where Claudia looks after you as well as cooking the meals. The menu is not large, but the food is delicious. Try the German beers, Combo German Sausage and Schnitzel and the apple strudel. We arrived on a Sunday and were telling Claudia we only had a little pumpkin soup for tea... More

After reading rave reviews by Trip Advisor folk, we went with high hopes to Claudia's on a wet and cold day. A large fire was burning in the corner of the large dining room, so we were quite cosy. Perhaps it was a bad day for the chef as the food left much to be desired. My Schnitzel was dry,... More

Thunderbolt farm is a lovely relaxed place not far from town. I loved the solar panels and thought farm animals really added to the country atmosphere. We went to Claudia's for lunch and enjoyed a fantastic meal with a lovely wine. Even though there was a big crowd they did a great job at serving everyone's meal quickly. I had... More

A wonderful home feeling about this winery where you are not peppered with demands to buy everything. The service was by those directly associated with the place, and reasonable top quality wines and meals were available.

Sensational home cooked traditional food in an amazing friendly environment with a strong German influence. Claudia & staff extremely accommodating in every way, including children. Great value for money. Was so good, we went two days in a row and loved all meals served

Claudia and the two Bens, delivered a wonderful meal to our party of 19 in a relaxed, warm atmosphere (terrific blazing fire). Attention to detail was exceptional.

Description
Claudia's is located within the Thunderbolt Farm winery. Its about 5 minutes drive from the main road, south of Stanthorpe.

We lunched there on a warm sunny day and sat overlooking the hills - blinds were up and the views were lovely.

Although the menu is international there is a German influence in many of the dishes and of course the beers.

We order the Burgundy Beef pie which was very tasty, though the pie itself was a fairly small portion served with buttery delicious carrots and beans. My husband ordered the combo of German sausages and schnitzel which was served with a generous helping of pan fried potatoes and onions. The sausages were excellent and my husband also said the schnitzel was very good.

Children's menu is good. My son was very happy with his fish and chips and complimentary icecream. Later he wandered around the herb gardens and watched the free range ducks waddle about.

The higlight was the dessert of apple strudel. It was spicy and so delicious served with cream and icecream.

Claudia's is off the beaten track but worth the small effort in getting there. Next time we hope to have time to taste some of the wines!
