Staying at the Mediterraneo Hotel just up the road, popped in whilst passing for a drink. Raphael (like the ninja turtle) was very friendly/welcoming. Had a few rounds of reasonably priced (and good measured) drinks. My wife had to ask for the rest of the...bottle of coke for her Long Island Iced Tea, because it was so strong, but to be fair since popping out some kids she's become a real lightweight :) We visited again a few days later for more drinks, and because the mother in laws partner did not believe the drinks were that strong, oh he did regret that! Proper spirits used in making of cocktails, not the cheap knock offs. Only my eldest son ate food here, and it was nice. Complimentary Raki to finish us off :) Would definitely recommend a visit here!More

We decided on an early dinner and sat at Anatoli by the beach. The waitress crossed the road and served us, I asked for a carafe of house red wine, normally good. The wine was so thin it looked like rose and it was like...vinegar. I waited until she was near us and quietly pointed these things out. She took the wine and glasses away and returned with fresh wine and glasses, which were fine. The waitress apologised and told us it was her first night. We told her there was no need to apologise and we thought she had handled it well. We ordered and ate a meal of mezes which were distinctly underwhelming and we consigned the whole experience to our memory.More

We enjoyed a very tasteful dinner at Anatoli restaurant. The starter shrimp saganaki was simply but tasteful. Also kids enjoyed pizza and pasta bolognese. Rib-eyes was also good. Swordfish was a bit dry and over cooked, but definitely a place to have great food.

Very nice place. Terrace to admire the sea, nice people to chat with, generous portions and delicious food. You shoud try schnitzels there! And Greek food! I tried most of their Greek menu I am happy to recomment all of it. Lamb and porc from...the oven, dolmadakia and souvlaki - all are as good as I can wish. And fish dishes! I just have no words to discribe my emothions, I 'll be happy to come back and taste again their fish: seabass, sword fish or sardines? Or, maybe, salmon or shrimp salade? The great advantage of the place is that Rafael or Anna will always help you, their recommendations are very useful. My husband was fond of the home soup "Anatoli", but I can't choose at all. I just adore their cooking! Nice wine, nice raki, very good people. I'm looking forward to come back there, have a glass of white wine on the terrace and the delicious meal, to have a laugh with Rafael or Effie, and a chat with Costa, the great cook and wonderful host.More

Good food and drink is easy to find on Crete if you follow the smells and the crowds is hard to not have a happy stomach at the end. What’s sometime harder to find is have the feeling of wanting to return as soon as...you walk out of a restaurant. The true measure of a restaurant. As part of our stay we had this only twice and the Anatolia was one of them. Visited three times during our most recent stay on the island, we enjoyed every moment fresh flavoursome food wonderful beers, wines and spirits and all wrapped in an almost family like backdrop. Hours passed with almost no thought of elsewhere such was the pleasure of the experience. Easily recommended.More

You can always get a very good breakfast here, but la crème de la crème is Costas' clay oven. Maybe I need to explain. The clay over is heated up to a high temperature, the heat source is then spent. The food is now introduced,...and the over sealed. This means the food is cooked in an oxygen free environment in its own juices. The result is spectacular. I cannot begin to describe how fantastic the taste is. You can have no idea how much oxygen detracts from the taste of food until you have tasted the way Costas cooks with his clay oven, Now, the clay oven is not fired up every night. So, please phone first and arrange to be there on a clay oven evening. You will truly be amazed.More

We came here for the last night of our holiday and it was the best decision: super friendly staff and truly excellent, authentic food, some of the best of our two week trip. A pleasure, highly recommended, a must if you are in the area

This made an excellent break from the all-inclusive Hotel above town. The restaurant varied the menu to 'grilled squid' (rather than rings) for my wife. My grilled sardines were amongst the best I have ever had. Shame they had run out of Retsina but the...village wine went down well. Very friendly staff.More
