We came here in 2015 for Christmas dinner, when the pub was still called The Pembroke Arms and had a fantastic meal, but halfway through 2016 we were informed the owners had changed hands to The Smoke Hut, leaving us slightly sceptical about what it would be like this year. Wanting to give the new owners a fair chance, we... More

If quantity of food is your thing, this will be right up your street. If you prefer quality, avoid this place. My friends had supposed Mexican meals, which transpired to be what looked like 10 tortilla wraps each, plus a pile of onion and peppers. Needless to say, they weren't impressed. My fish and chips meal appeared to be out... More

Our family had our Christmas dinner at the Smoke Hut (Formerly The Pembrooke Arms) and could not have been more disappointed with the quality of the food offered for the £54.95 a head we paid. Starters The pate had the appearance and taste of the pate supermarkets sell. The soup was ok and but I wouldn't be surprised if it... More

The Pembroke Arms has recently been taken over by the Smoke Hut. There was a 2hr wait for the food, the food was cold, burnt, ribs were raw inside. The chips were over cooked, greasy and had no potato in them. The meat was so over cooked it was like leather. It was absolutely awful. No Manager was around, he... More

First appearances - bland decor, very white and bright, quite bare, nice tables but some chair pads in a bit of a state, a bit lacking in atmosphere. Also had to wait a while before initially being attended to. That said service during the meal was very good and it seemed to be only one woman serving the bar and... More

The staff were very friendly and considerate. The portion size is big, I had the plain burger and chips, as the two fish meals were not available even though we were there at the start of evening service, which was disappointing. The burger was flavoursome, I left the bun as it was rather dry and the chips were gorgeous. Staff... More

Myself and two friends visited last night after having a meal in town. From the moment we walked in Gemma the barmaid gave us a very warm welcome. A great choice of drinks and a really friendly atmosphere, with the added bonus of a disco. Thank you for a great night x
