The Black Horse is a very old pub full of character. As a pub run under the Vintage Inn label, food follows the Vintage Inn menu which is varied and good quality. The lunch meals are a little on the 'standard' size, for example the baguettes are rather small 'put in the oven' ones and the chips are more like... More

From the beginning the waitress was clueless. I can only guess that she hadn't worked as one for long. It took a long while for the food to come. We were then told that we didn't have to hurry, but that people were waiting for our table. We weren't told at the beginning that we had a table for a... More

I know it's not home made food but I still expected better. I played it safe with a burger, bad choice, The burger had been microwaved for too long. Rubbery and chewy, my friend said it reminded her of a childs play kitchen (plastic burger). When I complained to the manager he blamed the waitress then walked away. The waitress... More

Hadn't been in this pub for quite a while but was pleasantly surprised on my recent visit on a Saturday lunchtime. Warm cosy surroundings. The food was fresh and excellent. I didnt fancy much but after my starter I had the small Ham, Egg and chips - it was huge so don't know how big the large version was. It... More

Absolutely horrendous! I come to this restaurant often and always find the waitresses lovely and mostly the food is good. I came before Xmas for the Festive Menu and it was without doubt the best meal we have had here. Food beautifully cooked, hot and lots of it, really good quality. On that basis I asked if we could book... More

Maybe the excuse that it was packed at lunchtime , maybe due to the offer of 33% off food. The fact is the rump steak was small, thin and mainly gristle, the rissole was just pure tasteless fat, salad mainly lettuce with a tasteless dressing. Have eaten here many times before and food is normally good. Did mention it to... More

Had a lovely meal. I asked for a medium rare steak and this was cooked to perfection! I can honestly say I have never had bad food from here. Restaurant was very busy, only downside was a large table with screaming babies/toddlers and equally noisy parents😕

I returned to the Black Horse on 27th December having had a very enjoyable experience a few weeks earlier. It is also within walking distance, as I recently moved to the area ! Again the choice and quality of meal was very good as was the value. The service was very good despite the venue being very busy albeit that... More

Just had the most amazing Christmas afternoon and dinner at The Black Horse. We decided back in the summer to have Christmas dinner out this year and we chose the black horse as we are frequent visitors and they never disappoint. The price was reasonable £55 pp and were informed it was the same as last year. We were able... More
