We were a large table of 16 to celebrate in law special birthday. I actually have to start not with the good, but with the service which was first class. All waiting staff were friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble with drinks...condiments and any that was asked for bought out promptly. Also all meals were served together with no one at the table having to wait for theirs, also when appropriate was piping hot. Very impressed with service. The food was good, soup being excellent as was my apple crumble and custard. My only disappointment was the meat served with the main (veg was excellent as was gravy). All in all though a lovely meal and judging by the fact it was extremely busy I guess it’s a popular local.More

I thought this was going to be a poncy evening, but it was very nice overall. Nice setting with piano player towards the front of the building (we were at the back), which was playing through the speakers. Tables were a little close together. Food...was very nice, somewhere between posh pub food and the Magic Mushroom in Barleylands (a must try 5* if you haven't visited already).More

I do love this place. Generally go for Sunday lunch. The veg, yorkies, gravy etc are great. My only negative is that they use a sliced catering meat. So your roast beef or pork doesn’t look like it’s been carved off a fresh joint. It’s...all a similar size and shape and thin slice. For a place with such an upmarket feel this disappoints. But never had an issue with the service or taste/quality of the rest of the food. But could they please do some more or different starters now? Feels like they need updating. A real positive was their Sunday lunches during lockdown which, despite the catering meat issue, were fabulous!More

First class Sunday lunch, staff were welcoming . Food was excellent partner had scallops which were cooked perfectly, I had duck breast, we both had the calves liver, the gravy was superb, you wanted a slice of bread to mop it up, liver was well...cooked, vegetables were crunchy. Deserts my partner had the chocolate sundae, I had the cherry cheesecake, was so light it melted in my mouth. After the long lockdown was wonderful to go back to Masons for a meal.More

Reading the reviews decided to have a meal one of the best restaurants in Brentwood. Very disappointed. Had the mussels, duck and steak. One of the worst meals we have both had. I have never written a review before thats how bad it was

I had one of the best meals at Masons last year and returned this year but my meal wasn’t enjoyable. I had the fillet medallions which lacked flavour and were very tough to cut and chew. Was disappointed with the food and felt it had...changed in quality. I hope it was a one off as have always had high expectations of Masons.More

On Thursday, the 8th of July we went for a meal for my sons 30th birthday. Three of us had a starter. As my husband was halfway though his starter he noticed a small live worm moving on the plate. We complained to a Waitress....The manager came to our table. he said it’s only a Caterpillar that come out of the lettuce . As if it was something that we should just except. The friendly worm of the restaurant making an appearance. We was really put off out food. The manager didn’t seem to be very bothered. I said to the manager I don’t expect to pay for the two starters that had lettuce. There was no real apology so we won’t be going back. Very unprofessional and could clearly see he didn't know how to approach the situation.More
