So much more than a village cafe ! We had breakfast here , dropped in mid afternoon for a drink and had an amazing evening dinner here . It is a busy little place and rightly so. The food we had was fantastic . Bookings are taken after 6pm a Wednesday to Saturday they open into the evening . We opted for the fixed price menu which included scallops , venison and an amazing pudding creme Catalina . If your in the area go !!

Blockley is a beautiful historic silk trade village in the heart of the Cotswolds, and also is famous as location for the ‘’Father Brown’’series. It has a lively environment - two pubs, medieval church, more than 20 local clubs and societies. The community-owned Blockley shop and cafe is a favourite all-day venue for locals, walkers and tourists. Talented chef Craig Stanley has created a little gem of restaurant for evening dining. Unsurprisingly it frequently is fully booked. The decor and layout is stylishly rustic. His ‘’Kembleford’’ fixed price menu provides fresh and sublimely tasty dishes in generous portions. Service is friendly and responsive. The wine list Is limited, but offers attractive options. And all at amazingly good value!

We had an excellent dinner at the Blockley café post lockdown 2.0. All Covid-related precautions were taken and tables were well spaced out. There was a lovely buzz and a sense of atmosphere as all tables were occupied. I hadn’t been back since the café turned into a proper restaurant and was not disappointed. Dinner is a 3-course + amuse bouche menu for £32.50. The food is absolutely delicious. The kitchen was very flexible in accommodating a dislike of mushrooms served a butternut cream instead of the menu amuse bouche. The bread rolls came to us piping hot from the oven and was among the best I have ever tasted. We had the scallops and duck as starters, and our table tried all 3 main course options: risotto, hake and guinea fowl. All superb. Some in our household had no room left for dessert but those who did loved the cardamom parfait with scrumptious milk and cream chocolate mousse. There’s a great selection of wine, beers and my favourite- cocktails. The staff is lovely and attentive. If I have one small tip for improvement is that the whole dinner took a bit longer than we expected (we have 2 young teens who were getting tired), but I expect the staff in the kitchen and front of house is kept to a minimum in these Covid times, which is perfectly understandable. We will definitely be back. It’s such a lovely addition to the great local gastro pubs already on offer. Thanks for a delicious meal.

Been so looking forward to visiting the cafe after seeing so many photos of food from the restaurant on Instagram. We were not disappointed. Waitresses very pleasant not forthcoming with menus or order pads so we went in to order. Sat outside in the sunshine & watched the world go by for half an hour sipping a cold cider. Will come back in the evening to try the restaurant part upstairs.

We stayed locally and visited the cafe for breakfast after reading great reviews. The cafe is in a great location but we did not find it as good as we were expecting from what we had read. We waited over 45 minutes for a bacon sandwich, we appreciate the cafe as quite busy but a table next to us that ordered after us received there food (similar order to us a breakfast sandwich) before us which was frustrating after waiting so long. Once the food had arrived we were slightly unimpressed but fairly hungry at this point. The bacon was quite greasy and hard as if it had been cooked and left a while before coming out which ties in with the long wait we had and for the price we paid would've expected a better quality. We wouldn't personally go back but as I said this is just our personal view as it does seem a very busy/popular place with many people.

Blockley Café
Hi Mandy. Firstly thank you for taking the time to leave a review. All feedback and reviews are extremely important to us and we always act and listen to them as we continue to develop Blockley Café. I’m deeply concerned to hear of your experience when visiting, which from what you describe, doesn’t meet our usual standards. If you could please take a moment to email mail@blockleycafe.co.uk so I can take a look into this in more detail, this would be appreciated. We’d also really love the chance to show you that we are worthy of 5 stars and can do a lot better than this. Thank you Best wishes Jamie

Great location but a very tiny space inside (not covid friendly) popped in for coffee and snack after hospital visit. When we looked at the menu price our eyes watered. We shared a very tiny sandwich £9.00 - This cafe is not catering for locals but the high-end tourist from London and overseas visitors. For walkers recommend you take sandwiches and get a coffee from the shop next door and sit on the village benches and enjoy the greens and architecture.

A lovely setting for a tea-room, with pleasant staff and plenty of tables to sit outside at. My only critical comment would be that it is expensive considering VAT has been reduced, so wouldn't be somewhere I would frequent too often. 2 regular cappucinos and 2 americanos with extra hot milk came to £15 Perhaps I'm just out of date with current prices?

Fantastic! We went here on Aug 13th and I was very impressed with hand sanitiser being provided in every table. The food is beautifully presented and really high quality - all sourced locally. The service was great and we felt social distanced but not abandoned. Have a doughnut too - all made in house and filled to the brim. I highly recommend eating here if you’re in the area. It will not disappoint.

Visited this little cafe for evening dinner when on holiday in Blockley and what a delight. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious the attention to how it is presented is better than some 5* restaurants. You can see and taste that the staff take pride in providing an enjoyable experience for their customers. The atmosphere in the upstairs of the cafe where you are seated was cosy but airy. The staff extremely pleasant. If you do one thing on your holiday to the beautiful Cotswolds, then book a table at the Blockley cafe. I defy you not to be amazed. Hope to return one day.

Visited to take photos of the picturesque village. We had no idea there was a cafe here but it looked newly constructed so we decided to drop in for a break. What a find! The cafe itself looks small from the outside but it has a second floor so can seat more people than you think. On entering you are greeted with a fantastic selection of truly original cakes and pastries (I've never seen the like anywhere else). Cruffins were tried and greatly enjoyed. Also tried were the Chorizo hash, and a bacon bap. Both were excellent with the latter served with Stokes ketchup. All the staff were friendly and helpful and scrupulous about hygiene. Service was reassuringly slow reflecting that the food was freshly prepared to order rather than being microwaved. The new and excellently maintained toilets are located outside which is a really good piece of design as it means people can use them without having to traipse through the cafe and/or shop which is colocated with the cafe. Architects take note! So all in all top marks for this excellent little place.

We were visiting Blockley (near Moreton in the Marsh) for the first time, and a beautiful village it is too. Seeking some lunchtime nibbles we decided to try the Blockley Shop & Cafe (a rather strange name but there you go). The cafe is a delight. The menu is chock full of ideas that wouldn't look out of place in a trendy area of London. The service was friendly, fast and attentive, and you'd have to try hard to better the food. It's in a different league to your average village cafe. Our son is moving there soon and for sure we will be back.

On a recent visit to the Cotswolds I visited this restaurant twice for breakfast and also for evening meal . The food was excellent both times. However it wasn’t just about the food , the whole atmosphere was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Each time the menu was very interesting with dishes that were different to normal run of the mill. I particularly enjoyed sweet corn and courgette fritters for breakfast with a perfectly cooked poached egg. The evening drinks menu was extensive with good cocktails , gin and wine . They pimped their cappuccino with real chocolate on top . I wish I had a cafe like this locally !

Much more than a small little cafe in the centre of Blockley. Spotlessly clean, professionally friendly staff . We had breakfast from a menu that covers all tastes from meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and even fussy eaters. Service wasn't the quickest but the wait was worth it with the quality of the food matching its presentation. As it is a busy place in the heart of a Cotswold village, parking is a problem so probably to park away from the place and walk to it.

During lockdown, we had an Angela Hartnett cook at home takeaway. The starter was burrata with blood orange, which was delicious, but it was surpassed by the burrata with burnt orange, pomegranate, seeds and toasted nuts served at the Blockley Cafe. This is a small cafe/bistro in a little village quite off the beaten track but it's obviously establishing a good reputation for itself as it was incredibly busy for 2.30pm on a Thursday afternoon during term time. One waitress was on her lunch break and the other was rushed off her feet but still found time for a friendly word as she served. It was a little more expensive than your average cafe but, then again, the food was much better than average too. Dog friendly both inside and out.

Dear Aileen. We are delighted to read your kind review & would like to say thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback & in such detail as well. We work very hard to source the best ingredients we can & with trained professional chefs running the business, the extra care & attention they put in has clearly been noted by yourself which is fantastic to hear & one of the key areas we pride ourselves on. We always aim to be fairly priced & offer something for everyone & we feel for the quality of the food & drink we serve (mostly supplied by local farmers & artisans), we strike a great balance so thank you for appreciating this. We’d love to welcome you back in the future to hopefully try out some other dishes as well & hopefully they can live up to the high level of the Burrata. Thank you Best wishes
