Stayed here overnight. Room was comfortable but basic. Breakfast was left in your room, but very minimal which was rather disappointing.

We were attending a wedding at the nearby Clearwell Castle which is about a 5 min walk away. The room was clean and tidy with everything you expect. The breakfast was continental in the room and was also nice.

We were looking for somewhere to go for my sons 19th birthday and chose the Butchers Arms on a recommendation. We were not disappointed with our choice. Plenty of dishes to choose from, excellent service and a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to others.

A new menu since I last visited with quite a lot of interesting dishes. Service was good at a steady pace, despite having a large group of 16 there along with other customers. Portions were more manageable and more tasty which I approve off. Still...More

On a cold March weekday the bar area was almost empty but it was a lovely quiet place for a leisurely drink and gorgeous sweet potato soup.

Food is nice but portions are small and service is very slow. Seemed to be only one waitress and a bar man on the evening we attended despite the restaurant being nearly full.

Having previously had a superb meal here before with my boyfriend (linguine with prawns, chilli and garlic starter was fantastic) I had high hopes for lunch today. Our starters were fine but the roast dinner was very disappointing, small portions, lukewarm and very basic. Desserts...More

In the area for the first time in years and decided to revisit this Pub. This is rather better than your average Pub fare - a different league. A wide range of choices and prices. There were four of us and we chose two different...More

A very warm welcome to the Butchers Arms. One of the oldest pubs in the Forest of Dean, we have been welcoming locals and visitors alike since 1802. Our menu combines signature 'Butchers' dishes with traditional British favourites, our modern recipes and grills are all prepared by Head Chef Matt Wheeler and his team from the freshest ingredients. Wherever possible we will endeavour to provide produce from local suppliers so you can truly have a taste of the Forest of Dean. We pride ourselves in providing good quality food, excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere. All our food is cooked fresh to order, so please allow a little time for service. We look forward to seeing you. Matt and Scott Directors
