Visited the rising sun for a family meal - great atmosphere. Catered for everyone, friendly staff, and great location. Parking available , garden looks great - so we will defiantly be coming back in the summer.

Lovely people, so warm and welcoming! Fantastic location - sitting outside in the summer near the pond is the best. Food is amazing, and the pub has such a great atmosphere. Love it here.

Covered in mud, frozen to the marrow and weak from walking several miles, we gratefully staggered into The Rising Sun. The staff were really great; all smiles and friendliness and the service was reasonably quick. We were able to place our drinks orders via our waitress. We all had mugs of builders tea to thaw out and then wine, cider... More

Spur of the moment meal out after seeing the advert for Pie night, called to confirm food was available, really helpful lady answered the phone, on arrival the chef knew we had called to ask and was very prompt in telling us the choices of pie, the specials and was really friendly, order taken quickly, food was delicious and we... Food was average, wine cost 6.95p. A glass which is expensive for a pub!!!! Been to other puns in the area and just as good at half the price. Will be drinking water if we go again.

Hi We are all a bit confused We haven t got anything on the Bar that costs 6.95 let alone wine which we sell for about £3 less than you have suggested Perhaps you have reviewed the wrong Pub? Kind Regards More

Living locally, moved to area just over a year ago, We had meant to visit before but the good reputation which proceeded our visit seemed justified when we sampled their lunchtime menu. Both choices were delicious , the fish being light and well cooked ,so it melted in the mouth ;and my husband said he'd never had an egg cooked... More

Friendly service, food average and very bland. Garlic bread was rock hard, nearly broke my teeth on it! Pudding was lovely though, brownie 10/10!

Gorgeous location, stunning views and great selection of local ales and cider. Non-fussy menu which is great value for money. This isn't a bistro pub with modern decor... but it is a proper pub with good grub and beer!

Had lunch here after a trail walk through the Forest of Dean. Staff very friendly and attentive, proper old pub, good choice of beers, and food was OK. Its pub grub and reasonably priced, just what was needed after a good invigorating walk. Pub is dog and walker friendly. Will be back.

With so many pubs closing these days, it is becoming harder to find a pub that ticks all of our boxes - well the Rising Sun succeeds on all counts. We have only been to the pub a couple of times, neither for Sunday lunch or when the pub is very busy, however our experience has been very positive. It's... More
